The thaw allowed us to get down to the mail box early this month and dig out quite a few scraps of Fifty-four news. Up from Beaufort, S.C., came a note from Marine pilot Howie Aronson, an August wingwinner, who is now operating with the Marine "Checkerboard" Squadron there. In January Howie plopped in on Marine Lt. Tony and Mary Lou Lukeman and daughter at their home at Parris Island.
About 40 of the crew, including wives and young ladies, turned out for the Fifty-four cocktail party held at the Dartmouth Club of New York City in late January. Perry Davis and Dave Mandelbaum handled the arrangements for the affair, though Perry was sidelined with the flu on the big evening. The check room attendant filed skimmers for:
Jerry Barton, Don Berlin, Gerry Bregman, Luke Case, Bill Cohen, Bruce Classon, Paul Dabney, Jay Davis and Don Descombes.
Doug Dodge, Jim Grady, Tony Kossov, Dave Martin, Mike Morrissey, Barry Nova, Ted Novascone, Bob Rafelson, George Robinson and Dune Roberts were around for the sipping, as were Stu Roth, Dick Rubin, Marc Sickel, Dick Steinberg, Glen Wesselman, Bob Woodberry, Bill Rogers, Tony Migliaccio and probably a few others whose names we did not get.
The New York City group has more activities planned for this year, so, if any of you are in the area, we hope you will check in on the Class doings there.
Your correspondent took his voodoo dolls over to the Harvard gym in January to make sure of the outcome of the Big GreenHarvard basketball game. We trounced 'em, of course. As we sat there punching needles into Crimson effigies we found ourselves assisting Ben Bowden, who was running the squad from a secure position back in the stands. Dick Davidoff, Mike Spicer, Donand Beth Brief, Charlie and Fran Morrison, and Jim and Betsy Rill were camped among the tribe in the stands. Between halves we heard that Ned Hoban had recently joined Loomis Sales in Boston, Mass., that PaulWilson was in Boston also and Ted Hartshorn in Milwaukee, Wis. Both of the latter are with Arthur Andersen Company.
Lest the old traditions fail, we trucked along behind George and Mary Brooks when they turned their dog-sled toward Hanover for Winter Carnival and some slope-work last month. The Hanover Inn register indicated that Bob Higbee had somehow secured a rack there for the weekend. The MikeMorrissey's were also on hand. A fine Carnival ... plenty of snow ... no place to eat. A few of the "old timers" noted signs of decay, however. Outdoor Evening was held in the hockey rink. Some of the young whippersnappers attended the showing incoats and ties, no less. George wrapped itup on Sunday afternoon by fracturing afibula, closing down his board work forabout six weeks.
Tom Corcoran is setting the pace amongFifty-four skiers at Kitzbuehel, Austria. Inthe Hahnenkamm ski races Tom finished inan eighth-place tie with Francois Bonlieuof France in the men's slalom.

Jim B. Fisher was discharged last fall afterspending a rather erratic sixteen-month tourin Europe with a cloak-and-dagger outfit onthe Berlin-Frankfort run. He is now back inHanover and has assumed the rather imperious title of Assistant Editor of this very ALUMNI MAGAZINE.
Jack and Martha Lee Mullen and daughter are in Hilo, Hawaii, where Jack is in charge of the retail activities of the Union Oil Company of California. The Mullens are literally "right at home" on the Islands, but Jack says they'll be back in California before long.
As this issue is dropped into your mail slot, a curious barnacle-bottomed scow is being hauled alongside a New York pier. Properly perched on the fo'castle, pinching black umbrella and doffing bowler hat to bedraggled dockhands is Lee Huff, who is rediscovering America after a year and a half at the London School of Economics. A twentieth century Samuel Slater, Lee has scribblings for a doctorate manuscript on the British peace-time program for atomic energy tucked away in his brief case.
Also in the metropolis are doctors Bill Gardner and Bob Riggio, who are interning at the Flower and Fifth Avenue Hospital. Over in South Orange, N.J.
