OUR 50th REUNION IS ONLY A MONTH AWAY. '08's big day is just around the corner. 94 men out of 127 expect to be there accompanied by 75 of the ladies AND MORE COMING! In addition to the list of those who will be at our 50th in June, there are the following: Amidon. Hill, Hoar, Jim Norton and Ralph Wilson. Looks like a man will be conspicuous by his absence if it s possible for him to be there. No time for any more reminders. Just plan to hitch up and git to Hanover. If you don't, "you'll be sor-r-r-y."

A WORD ABOUT THIS YEAR'S ALUMNI FUND DRIVE. In the past, the Alumni Fund Drive has been the occasion of a lot of hullabaloo with all the excitement of a horse race. This year, because it coincides with the Capital Gifts Campaign, it must be conducted differently. Insofar as this scribe is concerned the customary excitement will be missing. We have all been advised as to the College plans and are as loyal as ever - perhaps even more so this year. Our class has been in the habit of meeting its annual quota, and, in general, there is no reason why we should do less this year as individuals. Many will give much more. Each man knows his own conditions and his financial ability. He also realizes his responsibility and will take pleasure in discharging it this year, I'm sure, without the customary carrot dangling in front of him. Let's do it that way. What do you say? Here is a simple understanding of the two campaigns: Your contribution to the Capital Gifts Campaign, whenever made, will count also as your Alumni Fund gift for contributor and regularity purposes in both 1958 and 1959 and for any subsequent years in which you may be paying off a Capital Campaign pledge. If you do not contribute to the Capital Gifts Campaign but wish to contribute to the Alumni Fund, your gift will be credited as usual.

We report with sorrow the recent death of Alice Badger in Osterville, following a long illness. Besides "Tat," she leaves two married daughters also living in Osterville.

From a friend who was in Florida with him, we learn that Henry Stone was recently operated on for double hernia but is making such a record recovery that when last seen, he was out cleaning his car. Now Henry has had everything, but what a man.

A long article in the New York Herald Tribune relates that Governor Meyner of New Jersey has chosen David D. Furman to act as Attorney General. David is the son of our Walter Furman and has long been prominent in New Jersey legal circles. He had been Deputy Attorney General since 1954.

Another matter settled. After a thorough search of the records, Art O'Shea, Syd Ruggles and yours truly have withdrawn from the race as the youngest man in the class. The honor for youth belongs to Don Frothingham who was born December 11, 1887. "Pop" Chesley is our eldest statesman.

AT VERO BEACH. Even in red flannels a fine crowd has been having a grand time at the annual Florida reunion. In the past, there has always been a lot of fun indoors. Mike Stearns has been spending the winter there and a partial list of others include Bert Thwing, General Knox, Jim Douglas, Albert Perry, Roger Hill and family, George Lowe and wife, Harry and Sally Johnson 04, Harold and Mrs. Brown 'l4 and Mrs. Gordon Blanchard and daughter Carol. In addition, Art Lewis, Art O'Shea and Phil Thompson with their wives are expected as this is written as is Amos Lamphear with his wife. Of course, Larry and Helen Treadway are there as host and hostess. There are, no doubt, others as I am relying on casual information, not the hotel register.

Larry Treadway '08 demonstrating Dartmouth spirit of 50 years ago. Treadway, who got an Alumni Award last fall for Dartmouth service and a noted career as founder of Treadway Inns, is shown at the 1907 Harvard game, won by the Green, 22-0. The post-game festivities are described in the 1909 notes.
