A short note from Bill Norcross '39 now in the Philippines, states that in two more years he will have completed 20 years' service in the Civil Engineer Corps of the Navy. Along with his letter, Bill sent certain interesting documents pertaining to the "TSCE Annual Convention for Testing Materials" held at Bonnie Oaks, October 14, 1937, with the suggestion that they be placed in the "historical section" of the Thayer School Library.

As of February 1, Malcolm McLoud TT'47 will be answering to the title of "Sales Manager" for the Battery Separators Division, Evans Products Company, Plymouth, Mich.

John Harlor TT'56 is at the Luke Mill of of the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company serving as Project Engineer. According to our reliable source of information, John is busy and single.

On January 23, the second-year students and the faculty were guests of the DSE at a dinner at the Hanover Inn Ski Hut. Representing the DSE were Bob Barr '42 and Barney Tomlinson '36. The occasion of this meeting was to talk over plans for a room to be fitted out for student relaxation and conferences. As a result of this meeting, plans are already being carried out so that the facilities will be available before many weeks. In the meantime, a large coffee maker has been purchased and placed temporarily in the Faculty Room on the third floor so that students may join the faculty twice a day for "coffee breaks." Further details on the new student lounge will be reported at a later date after completion.

From Albuquerque, N. M., a Christmas card from Ed Traylor CE'48 refers to a scene of adobe buildings in a treeless, barren desert as "God's Country." Ed writes that he has been doing considerable consulting business with Merit White '31.

From Mac Corner '44, on a card showing his handsome family of six children, the news that he is now District Contracting Manager for the American Bridge Company in Chicago.

Alex McPherson ME'47 writes that he is senior project manager for the Gustin Bacon Company and is concerned mostly with the glass plants. Alex has a number of patents to his credit.

Ed Bergethon ME'48 has recently been appointed Divisional Manager for S.K.F. operations in Los Angeles. Ed's company, the Reed Instrument-Bearing Company in Los Angeles, was bought out by S.K.F. and Ed has assumed responsibility for the greatly expanded operations.

After three and one-half years as a Navy fighter pilot and one year as an electronics engineer at Convair-Astronautics, Tom Croft TT'54 is planning to enroll at UCLA to obtain a Ph.D. Tom announces that he has been married for two years to the former Jean Crossen of Los Angeles.
