Carroll Dwight and Bill Bullen chide scribe for failure to mention our little reunion in these notes. They infer scribe's memory shows senility. They claim some Twoter will say, "I would have gone but (as they say at the Harvard club) nobody never told me nothing about it." Truth is, meant to say something about it before but clear forgot.
Well, 'taint a secret and you're certainly invited. Time's afleeting and April 24, 25, 26 are the dates. The Hanover Inn is waiting to hear from you now. Bring the family but otherwise travel lightly. No fuss nor bother for Ma or Grandma. Won't need sandwiches because victuals will be obtained when and where appetite leads. As a special family treat, it might upon occasion even lead into one of Hanover's never forgotten hash houses. No need for tranquilizers at this restful respite. No need for alarm clocks - the library chimes will waken you tunefully - and good. April in Hanover with every flower and tree a treat to see. If you think you can't make it, honestly now, why can't you? We'll all be looking for you.
Twoters are naturally active in the Capital Gifts Campaign now at top priority in the Boston area. Bill Bullen is area chairman; Bud Winkler is a division chairman; RayAtwood is a team captain; and Ralph Grandfield, Bill Mann and Len Morrissey are plain but diligent workers.
Dr. Theodore R. Robie - Ted to classmates - has been elected president of the Eastern Psychiatric Research Association. Ted has been widely acclaimed for his research in psychiatry. He is particularly recognized in the development and application of psychic energizers in certain cases in lieu of electroshock therapy. Psychic energizers in chemical form such as Iproniazid, Marsilid, and Methitural, accomplish in many instances the same or more effective results than electro-shock treatment. Some of Ted's recent papers: "Iproniazid Chematherapy in Melancholia" - American Journal of Psychiatry; "Marsilid and Electroconvulsive Shock Therapy" - Journal of Clinical and Experimental Psychopathology; and "Methitural in Cerebral Electrotherapy" - Journal of the Medical Society of New Jersey. Ted's research was also acknowledged in Time magazine a year ago. These articles publicized one of the newest and greatest advances in psychiatry. Congratuiations from the clan, Ted. A grapevine report from East Orange, N. J., also says that in mid-winter the same Dr. Ted Robie was flying down to Miami where Wally Mountcastle was going to receive a call.
Judge Larry Henderson got back to Hanover in late February to spend Freshmen-Fathers weekend with son Charles. On the way home to Phoenix, Larry stopped over in New York for a pleasant get-together with Frank Horan.
Our Charles Sutherland Tapley, owner of the C. R. Tapley & Co. Agency of Boston and Danvers, was recently presented a golden anniversary certificate to mark the agency's fiftieth year as a representative of the Boston Insurance Company. From the pictureappearing in the Danvers Herald, Charliehimself certainly looks much less than 50.
Via airmail five days from Bangkok to NewYork, a letter from Phya Donavanick Montri - our Don - to Frank Horan will interestall the clan. Excerpts:
I am very sorry to hear of Had Pinney's death. He died too young. I remember him very well. When I was at the College he was one of the best debaters in our school. Whenever you see his wife or any of his relatives please convey my condolence.
My oldest grandson, Bisiddhisak Supanbasaj, a very nice boy of sixteen, recently took a scholarship and first among the Thai students here of the New York Herald Tribune for a - tour of the United States for four months. He will stay with an American family for two weeks at each family's home.
Should I be in the United States I would go to a weekend reunion of our class. You fellows were very fortunate when you got out of school. You can still meet your classmates. I am all alone here although I meet Dartmouth men (about twelve persons) for lunch the last Friday of each month but their graduation is far behind me. I am expecting Phil Hoffman '29 in Bangkok. He will be taken care of by me.
We all wish Don could be with us in Hanover at our little reunion the last weekend in April. He certainly would not be all alone there. And incidentally, Don's address has previously been misspelled. It is 61 Pahurat Road, Bangkok, Thailand.
A definite trend towards stabilization is indicated by only one address notice this month: John E. Blunt 3 135 South LaSalle Street, Chicago 3, Ill. Best wishes from the clan, Jack.
Another engagement in the clan - Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Kent of Washington, D. C., and Kentfield, Calif., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Serafina Kent, to John R. Horan, son of Frank and Betty. The bride-to-be is a junior at Vassar and John is a senior at the College.
Dear Dr. Ted: Would Iproniazid help a failing memory? Somebody - I can t remember — wanted me to say something - can't remember where or when - about a little reunion. Oh yes, Hanover Inn, April 24, 25, 26.
