THE FIRST ATHLOPHORUS, or Dartmouth recipient of the amphora, which remains in the College's possession, is Richard N. Hoehn '59 of Hanover, to whom Mr. Smith presented an illustrated folio at the Honors Banquet for ranking students on May 19. Three other New Hampshire men, honored as Agerastos or runner-up, were Samuel S. Adams '59, David R. Gavitt '59 and Richard W. Taylor '59.
The amphora will be awarded annually to an undergraduate from New Hampshire who best exemplifies the four Greek criteria of excellence: intellect, leadership, character, and athletic prowess.
