The Matt Jones Fall Round-Up of the Class of '94 had its forty-sixth birthday at the home of Bob and Dottie Burroughs in Manchester, N. H., September 24. It was classic that twenty-one persons were present, not only because it made this Round-Up "come of age," but also because Bob graduated in '21!

Of these twenty-one, four were of the Class, just half the number living. This is the same percentage as last year. These four were all accompanied by "caretakers," as was also the case last year. Stone and Merrill were chaperoned by their wives, Marden by his step-daughter, Miss Clare Brockunier, and Woodie Parker by his daughter-in-law and her husband Lloyd '24. Mrs. Gus Sawyer represented the wives of deceased members, having made the trip from Atlantic City, N. J., at unusual expense of sleep and energy. We missed her daughter Ruth who had so often accompanied her in preceding years. The sons and daughters came in even numbers, four each. The one coming farthest was Mrs. Louise Claggett Gaines, with her husband John M., from New York City. Mrs. Hope Mudgett Pratt was also accompanied by her husband, Lee F. Pratt. (They are now living in White River Junction.) Mrs. Esther Ham Slack came from Rochester, N. H.

William D. Mann '22 and John L. Merrill '32, were accompanied by their wives. Bob and Dottie Burroughs and Lloyd and Arline Parker made up the quartet of sons and wives.

As usual, the reading of "regrets" was a feature and served to bind the entire "Family" together. There were thirty-four of these, representing forty-four persons. Adding this forty-four to twenty-one makes a total of sixty-five members of the "Family" present or accounted for. Following are excerpts from two letters to Bob Burroughs. From Kent Knowlton:

I am sure the Class greatly appreciates your kindness in ha' ing us at your home. This willingness of the new generation is an earnest of what we can hope for when we are no longer here to do the things for which '94 has established a creditable record through the years.

From Lillian Field Dieterick:

How much I would like to attend but the miles are far too many. I do want to send all the Class of '94 and their loved-ones greetings from far off Nebraska. Jean (her sister) and I still talk about the reunion in '54 and how happy it made our dear Dad.

Bob and Dottie were delightful in their role as host and hostess in accord with the charm of their home within and without. We will not soon forget the delicious meal or the centerpiece of roses from Dottie's own garden.

This column must take note of the passing of Ralph Bartlett '89. He had a brother in '94, Rolla ("Curly") Bartlett, and our Quincy Blakely had a brother in '89, Dave Blakely, who was their class secretary for a term of years. This gave our two Classes an unusual tie, in addition to the fact that we met every five years at Reunions. When Ralph Bartlett became '89's secretary this tie intensified, especially between the two class secretaries.
