Dartmouth alumni in Italy turned out to welcome Sid Hayward '26, Secretary of the College, and his wife Barbara when they visited Rome in September. The Haywards were guests of honor at a dinner held at the Da Pancrazio Restaurant. Those who attended the dinner included Margherita and John Fornacca '19, who is head of American Express in Rome; Leslie and Phil McInnis '36 and daughter Susan, in town because Susan won a 21-day trip to Europe in a sewing-fashion contest; Allan Jacks '37, chief of the Associated Press bureau in Rome; Pat and Jim Bryant '58, just transferred from Naples to Rome by USIS; Stefano Passigli '58S, who came down from Florence; and Betty and Alex Fanelli '42, also with USIS in Rome.
After the dinner the party adjourned to the Fanellis' apartment where the group enjoyed an informative talk by Sid illustrated with colored slides of the College. The party continued quietly into the early hours of the morning, but the group broke up with the determination to get together again soon without waiting for the Haywards to return. It is hoped by all that they will visit Rome again.
