In this column, I'd like to pay tribute to a continual news source who keeps me supplied with a steady flow of items I can't always use, but do always enjoy. Faithful West Coast correspondent Joe Eisaman lives in Beverly Hills and still goes to work at the advertising firm of Eisaman, Johns & Laws, of L.A. Recent accounts landed by the firm include Rembrandt, the toothpaste named after an artist, and Crystal Cruises, a major cruise line. Every August Joe, with wife Karren and their USC daughters, Kari (now graduated) and sophomore Liv, get together for a family vacation on Balboa Island, a star-studded resort on the river in Long Beach. I know it's great, as I've been there myself, while at a trade show. In fact, I've rollerbladed the length and breadth of that area. Each year for the past six or eight, Joe has sent me a photo of himself posing outside the major restaurant. I've never been able to have it published in this magazine. So again this year comes Joe's annual photo, herein described in words, much better than any old picture. Here's Joe, mug in hand, with green shorts, white and green athletic jacket, a Dartmouth beanie, standing under a huge sign reading "Class of 47" (the name of the restaurant). There's your picture, Joe, and I never even mentioned

those skinny, knobby, bare legs. But this is not all. Joe keeps in touch with Russ Pfaff, now in Florida and an acquaintance of Hurricane Andrew, Bourke Welch, and Bob Huffman, and he keeps me posted.

Joe also has heard from Al Colton's widow, Liz, who had plans to join Bob and RobbieDodsonat the V-12 reunion in July. Unfortunately, Liz's mother became ill, so she stayed home. Keep in touch, Liz.

Livingin Beverly Hills, as Joe does, can be prettylively, and a lot depends on your neighbors. Joe has teamed up with Jack Lemmon in a community effort, and he mentioned something about a Heidi having a "house" up his road. Joe is actually a "source"; if one wants to know who is remodeling, what home is for sale, or the last selling price of a home sold by a star, Joe is your man.

Joe loves the L.A. Kings hockey team and knows Wayne Gretzky. In fact, Wayne mentioned Joe's name on TV recently, when he replied to a question, "Joe Eisaman? Who's he?"

Joe is a perpetual sophomore: the old man of the AD League Softball squad, a skier and rollerblader. Having a good time, doing a super job of promoting, attentiveness to customers, friends, and Dartmouth this is joe's trademark. The only thing he has not done lately is see an Ivy Championship football team in action. Forget the Rose Bowl, forget the Pros, Joe you need a dose of Dartmouth life. If you and all your correspondents showed up for our next '47 gathering, it would be a full house. And you'd be thrilled, and never stop coming. So, everyone, mark you calendars for June 10, 1997, our 50th Reunion.

And if anyone else wants to be featured in a profile like this one, just send me news like Joe. See you soon.
