You will recall that last year's '32 rally in Hanover on the Brown weekend provided such a good time for those attending that it was decided to hold a repeat performance this fall. The date selected is October 1, when the Big Green engages Penn, and Art Allen has made arrangements similar to last year's with Bonnie Oaks.

If you plan to attend, just sit down and dash off a note as soon as possible to Mr. Borden Avery, Manager, Bonnie Oaks, Fairlee, Vt., requesting either inn or bungalow accommodations and enclosing a $25 deposit on the reservation. The minimum reservation is for two days, and the daily rate is $14 per person, which covers three meals daily with the option of a box lunch for Saturday. Last time, if memory serves, there were at least a dozen youngsters in attendance ranging in age from twelve to twenty, so bring yours by all means.

Bo Wentworth writes that last fall on a trip to western Canada he had a most enjoyable surprise encounter with Alf MacLaughlin now associated, Bo believes, with the Canadian Gypsum Co. Alf appeared to be in excellent spirits and enjoying life in Calgary, having recently moved there from Winnipeg, his home for many years.

Enclosed with Bo's note were clippings which furnished some additional '32 news items. The first of these announced a sig million issue of preferred stock by Northern Illinois Gas, the company of which Marv Chandler is president. The second described a top management realignment at General Motors Acceptance Corp., the sales financing subsidiary of General Motors. Included in the move was Executive Vice President John Zimmerman placed in charge of branch operations and borrowing operations. John was with the parent company from 1934 to 1954, when he joined G.M.A.C. as vice president in charge of the treasury, accounting, and financial staffs. He was elected a director at the same time. He became executive vice president in 1957. A third news clipping announced that our Class Agent Bob Reinhardt has been elected comptroller of G.M.A.C., being promoted to that post from the rank of assistant treasurer.

Welcome news for some of our embattled commuters is the announcement of Fred Orner's appointment as chief of operations of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. Fred has been with the line for 24 years and was previously general manager of freight services. In his new capacity he will be responsible for the railroad's operations, maintenance of way and equipment, labor relations, personnel, freight and passenger traffic, and purchases and stores. He will report directly to the president.

In Dallas, the appointment of Don Simpson as manager of Big Town has been announced by the store's owner. Formerly store manager for Sears Roebuck, Don has been in the management field many years in such cities as St. Louis, Evansville, Philadelphia and Cleveland.

In Waterbury, Conn., Ed Smith has recently added the Waterbury National Bank to his list of directorships. He is president of J. E. Smith 8c Co., Waterbury Ready Mix Concrete Co., and Connecticut Wholesale Supply Co., and continues as one of our Class's most active leaders in industrial and civic affairs.

A personal slant on some of the peoples of Western Europe is offered us by Dr. Ralph Elias who sends a series of observations made on his recent tour of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, England, France and Italy. Always curious about people, the good Doctor apparently spent a large part of his time examining the attitudes and reactions of those he met and attempting to capture some of his fleeting impressions on paper. At present writing, Ralph can be reached care of American Express, Rome, Italy.
