In a nice long letter from Johnny Sheldon, we are informed of the annual get-together of Chicago area classmates and their wives at Ed Eichler's Fin 'n Feather Club. This popular picnic was well attended once again and was held on a beautiful bright day late in September. While Johnny could not remember everyone there he does recall spending some time with Dave Stern, Bob Ackerberg, Ed Miller, Larry Burtis, John Wright, Marv Chandler, Tom Kiddo, Joe Bennett and Ed D'Ancona. It is too bad that so delightful an affair taking place in the fall of the year cannot be reported until the following February. I would like to suggest now that in the future, Ed Eichler, from whom I have never heard, write his one letter per year immediately after the annual picnic. In that way the news would be current and secondly I would get my annual letter from Ed. John also reports that he recently had dinner with Ray Bartlett in Chicago. We have had no news of Ray since reporting the very serious automobile accident in which he was seriously injured juredand necessitated his resigning as reunion chairman. We are happy to report that Ray is well on the way to recovery and in the not-too-far-distant future will regain full use of all his muscles, through therapy. John goes on to say, regarding Ray, "he seems to be doing quite well with his National Industrial Exposition work." This comes as news to us, for our records show that Ray was connected with Talon, Inc. as of 1955 and there has been no change noted. This could be easily remedied, Ray, by dropping me a note bringing us all up-to-date. To John Sheldon, many thanks for the news and the fine report on Ray's progress.

According to the New York Times of December 29, Fulbright Fellow Carlos Baker, will have his first novel, "A Friend in Power," published by Scribners in April. To my knowledge, this is the first time that Carl has written a novel and we are all looking forward to its publication. In this same edition of The Times, in the Book Review section, Carl wrote an article about England, which was well received. Would that Carlos would write to "ye olde secretary" to bring him and the rest of the class up to the present on the doings of the Bakers, late of Princeton, N. J. If he is too busy, I'm sure you could find time to do it, Dorothy. That also goes for the rest of you gals — if the old man can't find time to write - you do it!

From the Denver Post of Nov. 28 the following article:

"Harry Litzenberger, former president of the H. H Tammen Co. and a Denver theatrical figure, was one of 11 Americans rescued Thursday when Their storm-disabled yacht was towed to port at Nana, Okinawa. The Americans were aboard the 112 foot yacht "Thespian" which was caught in typhoon Mamie last week between Guam and Okinawa while on a movie-making cruise. The yacht towed to port by a British ship, had it's stripped and mast broken. The owner of the yacht is John Calvert of Hollywood, who said that the Pacific voyage was made to film a television series "The Sea Fox." There were no injuries reported aboard the yacht, although two British seaman from the rescuing ship were injured while launching the lifeboats.

You will recall that Harry and family were unable to attend reunion because they were embarking on this trip to the Pacific. We are glad to hear that all hands are safe after this harrowing experience and hope at some time in the near future to get full details on the trio from the Litzenberger family.

Now for a few quickies: Howie Sargeant recently addressed a meeting of the Phi Beta Kappa Society at the Wayside Inn in Scarsdale, N. Y.; The Stuart Brent Book Store in Chicago recently gave an Autographing Cocktain Party in honor of Reuel Denney, whose new book "The Astonished Muse" has just been published; Bob Ryan, currently appearing on television's "Turn of Fate" program, has recently been elected vice president of the board of trustees of the Oakwood School, located near Hollywood, and his wife was elected to the same board; Bill Lieson is hard at work as chairman of the planning committee of the Wesson Maternity Hospital, which is planning to enlarge its facilities.

If you have not paid your class dues - Please do it Now!.
