The informal joint reunion of '07 and '09 was very enjoyable. Sparked as it was by Jack Childs '09 and his talented orchestra, and supported by '07's George Grebenstein, it will be remembered by all those present - and it may be that older classes will join forces advantageously.
We regret to report the death of Alvin Goodnow Whitney at his home in Delmar, N. Y., on June 19. He had a distinguished career in forestry in New York State, was a college teacher, and for some years before retiring in 1953 he was Assistant Director of the New York State Museum and also Assistant Director of the New York State Science Service. Judge and Elizabeth McLane traveled in Europe during the spring, returning in time to attend the '07-'09 Reunion.
"Bishop" Niles and his wife Luna visited the Pacific Coast early in June. They visited Helen Barnes in Seattle, and Bill Jennings in La Jolla. Bishop reports that Helen and Bill are in good health and very much interested in Dartmouth and "07. Bill and "Bishop" wired their best wishes to the '07 reunion.
Charles W. T. Willson was honored at the Memorial Drive School, Farmington, N. H., on his retirement as custodian of two Farmington schools, following 27 years of service.
"O. C." Davis, a resident of West Medway, Mass., for some years, has reported recently that he will make his home, after August 15, at 543 Plumosa St., Clearwater, Florida. Best, wishes to him.
Art Spear is the founder of a Maine Prize Speaking Contest. He established the event, many years ago in honor of his mother and expects to provide for its continuance after his lifetime.
'07 men from coast to coast should be conscious, if they aren't already, that Phil Chase keeps '07 well out front of all classes from 1884 to 1909, inclusive, in annual gifts to the Alumni Fund.
Dr. Earle B. Fowler reports in a letter to "Greb" that he is still practicing his profession, but is able to relax from time to time since he is associated with two other doctors.
A number of '07 men, and their wives, are not enjoying full health. Your secretary reports some of them because classmates will want to communicate with them.
"Art" Bourne has had two sessions in a hospital this year. His home is in Amherst, Mass.
Herb Hinman has been suffering from a pinched nerve in his spine that can't be fixed. His address is 1400 Chesapeake Ave., Hampton, Va.
Arthur Leavitt and Leon Sprague report that their wives are not in good health. Bill Smart attended his 50th reunion at Harvard Law School in June. His wife Ruth broke a hip during the summer.
"Tute" and Mary Worth en enjoyed six weeks in the British Isles during the spring.
"Crick" Crocker reports that his wife is very ill. We all extend best wishes for her improvement.
Ed Barker reported in June that he could not attend the '07-'09 reunion because he was making a slow recovery from surgery. Let's hope he has fully recovered when this notice reaches him in October.
Harold Jennings, who lives in Augusta, Maine, reported that poor health would keep him from attending the June reunion.
