About the time you pick up this magazine I'll be watching the black robed seniors moving past the relatives and well-wishers and into the Bema. This senior year has gone past much too quickly. It seems only last month that my freshman advisees were delightfully "fresh," now they're sophisticated almost-sophomores. This doesn't mean they're not fine guys still. They are. But a year of education in its broadest sense has gone by and worked its subtle magic.

As I reported last year at this time, this is the best season for climbing up to the top of Velvet Rocks for a pre-foliage look at the Hanover Plain and surrounding hills. Yesterday was one of spring's loveliest. I used the hunt for a pair of white birches as the excuse for leaving the normal spring chores and climbing upward. I had to fight the New Hampshire hill rocks for the birch and seriously doubt their ability to survive the root tearing and amateur transplanting techniques, but the climb and the relaxed minutes atop the hill were well worth the effort.

Since I realize I cannot cover all the news I have on hand in the space available to me this month, I'm going to start out and cover all the new members of the 1952 class family through marriage (or engagement announcement) and birth, then move on into the general news. Rather than hold the remaining items for next year, I hereby promise you a Secretary's Dividend in July; with newsletter editor Dick Watts' permission I shall turn out a Secretary's Special covering all '59-'60 news I have unreported and also giving you a Buck's eye report on Hanover today and the academic year now coming to an end.

So on to the news: Charlie and RosemaryClough were married in January. Charlie gained a promotion in the same month, to assistant to the treasurer of the Nashua Corporation. Attorney Angus Russell's engage- ment to Miss Elizabeth Waterworth of Haverford, Penna., was announced in April. Angus' bride-to-be was graduated from Smith last June. Another engagement announced this spring revealed the plans for Fred Neumann and Miss Grace Robinson. She was graduated with Phi Beta Kappa membership and honors from the University of Idaho. Both Fred and the bride-to-be are in New York now.

Harry's with Spencer Trask and Company, investments. Jack and DorothyAdoue also were February parents with the birth of Ritchie Ann. Older brother, Jack Ill, is four. Another dad for the first time was John Bart-lett, salesman for Shelcor, Inc. in California, industrial equipment. John and Jeanne became new parents on December 4 to a son, Stewart Rice.

Bill and Norma Guggisberg had their fourth child, second son named Bobby in December. The other three are Marilyn, seven, Billy, five, and Karen, three. They have three children, Joy, four, Judy, three, and John, born in February. Don and Carolyn Campbell had a second daughter in December. Jean joined sister Sandra, seven, in keeping things popping at home while Don works away as an advertising brand manager with Procter and Gamble. Dave "Nick" and Mary Alice Swain also had a second child in January. David IV joined Sheryl, four, in the Swain household in Illinois. Nick's a salesman with D. F. Swain Company. Word has been received that Charlie Roberts has been elected an assistant treasurer of the First Pennsylvania Banking and Trust Company in Philadelphia. He will be permanently assigned to the bank's Centennial Office at 32nd and Market Streets. Charlie and his wife Martha now live at 6417 Wissahickon Ave., Germantown, Pa., along with their three sons, Charles 7, John 6 and William 4. Before his association with First Pennsylvania, Charlie worked for two years, 1954-1956, with Reliance Electric and Engineering Co. in Cleveland, Ohio. After Dartmouth, Charlie went on to Harvard Business School where he was awarded his MBA with distinction.

George Grosshans, president of the Dartmouth Club of Toledo, was promoted in January to executive position analyst of Owens-Illinois. The job involves evaluating top management positions. Jim and Peggy Branch have done some traveling too: from Denver to Alaska where Jim is with the Alyeska Ski Corp., as a ski resort manager in Girdwood, Alaska (population 35 for which Jim is "mayor"). Jim and Peggy have two boys, Mike, one, and Phil, six months. Whitey Fier joined Bodin, Feldman, Gottlieb and Charney law firm in April as an associate. Whitey, who earned his LL.B. at Harvard, and wife Jane Lee have two children, Jennifer, three, and Michael, one.

Since this is election year and it's president this and vice president that, let's take a momerit to talk about our own prexies and v.p.s. Bill Thornton is president of the Manchester (Conn.) Sand and Gravel Company. He and Lois have two boys, Bill and Steven. Dusty Rhodes is another president, John M. Watts Company, industrial distributors. Dusty and Mary Jane live down in Bryn Mawr, Penna., with their daughter, Mary Lee, born last September.

In the vice president ranks are Pete Zischke, Bob Griswold, Ross Daniels, and we'll include Chuck Liddle too - though he's still an assistant vice president. That's still mighty good to me and there are many others too. Pete's an officer of the Zischke Organization, Inc. out in California in the profit sharing and pension consultation field. He and Midge are parents to two young men, Mike, five, and Kurt, four. Gris is vice president of Ontario Telephone Company, a post he gained in February 1959. He and Anne have one daughter, Jan.
