There's an extra special excitement in the air these days, over and above the eagerness to see what the Class of 1961 looks like, and that's caused by the Anglo-Canadian-American convocation with its impressive cast. Among the notables due in Hanover are 1952's own Bernie Lewis and Bob Brace. You'll learn more about this special Dartmouth event on other pages so let's turn to talk of "Fabulous '52."
Plans are now underway for a big informal reunion of the class at the Yale-Dartmouth game in New Haven on November 2. You'll be hearing about this class gathering in The Crier soon so make your plans now.
Bridegrooms All. Wedding bells were ringing in Stuttgart, Germany, for Bill Mattox and Joan Burkland on May 25. The bride is from the State of Washington and Fresno State College. A marriage somewhat closer to Hanover was that of Class Treasurer Ed Finerty. On June 29 Helen Shea of Somerville, Mass., became his Mrs. Two weeks later another Massachusetts town, Orleans, became celebrated because of the marriage of George Hibben to Julia Kimball, a Smith College graduate. The society columns noted that their honeymoon was spent at St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands.
Lou Malizia took the big step on June 1. His bride, Joan, hails from Newington. Conn. Back in April, Tom and Barbara Schanck became man and wife. Tom is a sales engineer for Signode Steel Strapping Co. A clipping from Cleveland, Ohio, records the marriage of Shirley Ann Schneider, a Wellesley graduate, and our own Pete Henderson. Another newspaper clipping reveals that on August 3 Miss Juliet Phillies Paddock of Maplewood, N. J., and Dan Van Dorn were wed. Dan, the article states, is with the Joseph Dixon Crucible Company. In June the wedding portrait of George Sherman's attractive bride graced the Boston Sunday Globe. She is the former Anne Woodberry, a Skidmore gal.
Questionnaires provided the information that the Rev. Ed Sumner, Episcopal clergyman at Trinity Cathedral in Trenton, N. J., was married to Linda May Master, of Media, Pa., and Barnard on June 29; that George and Fredrica Read were wed on July 6. Fredrica is a Smith gal from Knoxville, Tenn. (they are living in Toledo where George is a stock broker with Merrill, Lynch and those other guys); and Jack Flitner, secretary of a savings and loan association, was planning a wedding with Miss Toni Parente of Corde Madera, Calif., on August 24.
Our final wedding news concerns Al Stein who joined the growing ranks of 1052 husbands on June 22 with his marriage to Miss Patricia Broderick of Roxbury, Mass. The news clipping notes that Dr. Al Elkins was best man. Another wedding that should have taken place on September 14 in Nebraska was that of George Rambour and Lenoue Winkelman. George is secretary of Rambour Realty, Inc.

Blood of NYC (Albie's with T. and T.); Sid Schneck to Miss Sally Roos of Winnetka, Ill., and the U. of Wisconsin; and Tony Trowbridge to Miss Sally Ann Frawley of Livingston, N. J., and Russell Sage. Babies Galore! Linda Kathryn was born to Sandy and Dick Watt on July 29. Suzette, born in April, was child No. 2 for Don and Anyta Chambless. Don is a trainee at Schulze and Burch Biscuit Co. in Chicago. The firstborn was a boy, Jonathan Hugh, for Dick and Joyce Nye on August 9. Borne and Betty Patten made it one of each on July 8 with the arrival of David. For Navy lawyer TomCollins and wife Linda, Thomas III was child III in January (the first two were girls which gives me hope). Guy and Patricia Labahme, '52's Morocco outpost, are proud parents of Steven Ford, born June 13. Their first was a girl. Doreen and Ben Stein's second was a girl like the first - born June 20 and named Marjorie.
Out in the Chicago area the big news on June 30 was the arrival of Bill Biggs Jr., son of Bill and Pat. Kent Calhoun reports the young one looks athletically inclined already. Deborah, born June 12, joins brother Dan in the Chuck and Joan Jones household in Canton, Mass., while in West Hartford. Conn., Fred Hill Jr. is probably causing a few sleepless nights for dad and Jeannette. Big Fred's selling for IBM. Pete McCreary, now an assistant investment counselor with the Bank of New York, reports his second daughter, Elizabeth, was born June 13. Bob and Laura Schuldt's first-born was a girl, Karen, on April 14. Jack Crowell, now law clerk to the Honorable Gerald McLaughlin of the U. S. Court of Appeals at Newark, N. J., and Peggy, had their second son, Patrick, on May 31-
It was a boy, second child and named Alan Maxwell, for Al and Mariel Sherburne in April. Chuck Keenan, a co-worker here in Hanover, and wife Charlotte had Garry join sister Catherine in their Norwich home shortly after July 23. Susan, born July 31, is Dave and Grace Oestreicher's second daughter. Anne is the first child for Alex and Tula Athanas — born July 11, and it was the second daughter for Jack and Diane Creamer on June 4 — named Colleen.
