Tuck School

The fall meeting of the Board of Over- seers was held in Hanover on September 29 and 30. Highlights of the meeting included a report by Mr. Davis regarding his current marketing management decision-making research project and a special discussion of international business as it relates to the Tuck School curriculum led by Mr. Marx.

Tuck School was host to the Conference of the Deans of the New England Collegiate Schools of Business on October 9-10.

Mr. Olsen attended the annual meeting of the American College of Hospital Administrators and the American Hospital Asso- ciation in Atlantic City, September 23-28.

Mr. Griswold and Mr. Foster served as members of the faculty for the graduate school of credit and financial management held at Tuck School in August and conducted by the National Association of Credit Management.

In June Mr. Griswold discussed Capital Budgeting in a finance seminar at the American Management Association Academy in Saranac Lake, N. Y.

Mr. Foster attended the Scott Paper Company Foundation Scholarship Recipients Program, October 9-10, in Philadelphia.

Mr. Foster is the author of a book entitled "Understanding Financial Statements and Corporate Annual Reports," published in October by the Chilton Publishing Company. The book is particularly intended for those with no training in accounting and finance. For many this will be a review of financial statements and principles of finance.

On September 8-9 Mr. Quinn participated in a conference on technological planning, held at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He delivered a paper entitled "Top Management Guides for Research Planning." The July-August issue of the Harvard Business Review carries an article by Mr. Quinn on "Long Range Planning of Industrial Research."

Mr. Lent attended the National Tax Conference in Seattle, Wash., early in September.

Mr. Guest has been asked to act as observer and critic of a new type of sensitivity training program for top executives sponsored by the Pacific Finance Corporation. A session was held October 4-8 in Columbus, Ohio.

Dick Clark '39, product administrator for vinyls, Monsanto Chemical Co., has been appointed director of sales, vinyl products. . . . Charlie Carleton T'42 has been appointed managing director of Pillsbury AG. with headquarters in Paris, France. Pillsbury AG. is the subsidiary through which the operations of the Pillsbury Company are con- ducted in Europe. . . . Bill Millikin T'46 has been elected treasurer and member of the board of the Fellows Gear Shaper Company, Springfield, Vt. .. . Bill McElnea, Jr. T'48, general partner in the investment banking firm of Van Alstyne, Noel and Company, New York City, has been elected to the board of Nedick's Stores, Inc. . . . Fran Hummel T'49, anager of marketing, The Bassick Company, a division of Stewart-Warner Corporation, is the author of a new book entitled "Market and Sales Potentials," published by the Ronald Press Company.

Charlie Clough T'33 has been elected treasurer of the Nashua Corporation, Nashua, N. H., having served as assistant treasurer since 1960. ...Jack Ketchum T'55 is with the Union Mutual Life Insurance Company of Portland, Maine, as securities analyst. . . . Pete Wardle '57 has become engaged to Georgiana H. Silverthorne of Terrell, Texas. . . . Alex Mclntyre T'57 has been assigned to Mexico with the Hospital Supply Division of the wholly owned subsidiary of the American Hospital Supply Corp., Hoffman, Pinther and Bosworth. .. . Bruce Lockhan'59 and Sydney Ann Johnson of Fairfield, Connecticut were married on July 1.

Bill White T'60 and Claire I. Mott of Flint, Mich., were married in July. ... Ed Russell T'60 and Ellen M. Fairclough of Wellesley Hills, Mass., have been married. . . . Trygve Kroepelien Jr. T'60, who has been in Germany since September 1960 studying newspaper publishing, participated in seminar arranged by AIESEC in Wiesbaden, focusing on European marketing problems in connection with the two free trade areas. Later this year he expects to go to France to continue studies in European economy. .. . Frank Bell '60 married Maureen Coughlin of Beverly, Mass., on July 15. .. .
