COREY FORD, Hanover's well-known resident author, whose interest in Dartmouth rugby is even more widely known, has been named chairman of the board of governors of the Friends of Dartmouth Rugby. The Board will act in an advisory capacity and will aid in the solicitation of alumni support and interest for rugby at Dartmouth.
An adopted member of the Class of 1921, Ford heads a group which includes nine alumni and one Dartmouth wife. Sigurd S. Larmon '14, chairman of the Board of Young and Rubicam, Inc., New York is serving as honorary chairman.
Mrs. Susan Curtis, wife of Dartmouth Trustee and U.S. Representative Tom Curtis '32, is the only woman on the Board. Other members include Judge Amos Blandin 'lB of Hanover, a justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court; Orton Hicks '21, Vice President of the College; Vincent Jones '52,. former rugby player and Rhodes Scholar, now with the law firm of Kelso, Schnacke, Cotton and Holmes, San Francisco; Richard Liesching '59, former club president and the man behind the club's trip to England, who is now with C. V. Starr and Co., New York; Culver Modisette '50, former president of the Dartmouth Club of Hartford and one of the founders of the Hartford Cup game held annually between Dartmouth and Yale rugby teams; Charles Moore '25, Vice President-Public Relations for the Ford Motor Co.; Dave Smith '35, past president of the Dartmouth Club of Northern California, and an organizer of the club's recent tour of the West Coast; and Ford Whelden '25, director of the College's Bequest Program and an ardent follower of Dartmouth sports.
An alumnus wishing to become a Friend of Dartmouth Rugby may do so through an annual contribution of $5. In return each Friend will receive the Club's newsletter which is printed at least twice a year. The money will be used to defray club expenses and enable it to field three teams.
