REUNION - THIRD CALL - did you "hear something BIG is coming up in June?" Charlie Brown, with the assistance of George Clark, Ralph Morrison, and Al Britton, is rapidly laying down plans for fun and relaxation. Several January meetings resulted in reservations at the beautful Lake Morey Inn at Fairlee, Vt., for Saturday afternoon where there will be golfing, boating, swimming, relaxing, and fun galore capped off with an eye-popping buffet. You won't want to miss a moment of the day.

In commenting last month on Dr. John Kiel's recent appointment, I was unaware of his Milwaukee Section Award by the American Chemical Society which was written up in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE on page fifteen in case you missed it. Also of interest is some recent work of John's in the field of medicinal chemistry and pharaceuticals where he has over twenty patents and many new drugs to his credit. Ditran, a new development, is proving of great value in giving medical science new insight into mental illness. Other drugs he has developed are tranquilizers, psychic energizers, bronchodilators, and drugs for the treatment of asthma and gastrointestinal disturbances.

Did you see the picture in the New York Herald Tribune on Sunday, January 15 of Jack Tobin with Barbara and their four children? They were pictured, as might be expected, on skis during a visit to Davos Ski Resort in the Catskills near Woodbridge, N. Y. Jack, since 1953, has been president of the John C. Tobin Co., manufacturers' rep- resentatives in the houseware field.

The 39th session of the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School which began in February found Scotty Matthews in attendance. As Associate General Product Manager - Household Division - of Colgate-Palmolive Company he was sponsored by the company to attend what is one of the oldest senior management development courses conducted by a university.

In short form we have run across the promotion of Ed Doty to manager of the Product Development Organization of Sylvania Electric Co. in Waltham, Mass., where he has for the past several years been Personnel Director — Hugo Schnabel, along with the announcement of the birth of a first daughter as reported by Lipp in the January 23 News-letter, is a branch manager in Omaha, Neb., for International Paper Co. with which he has been associated since 1949 - Dave Heald,, has moved from New Hampshire and association with Profit Sharing Systems, Inc. to Cleveland, Ohio, where he is Regional Manager Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky - for the Putnam Funds Distributors, Inc. For the present, he and his family are living in Hudson, Ohio - the Western Electric Co. has. moved Ken Jones from his former location with the company in Indianapolis, Ind., to Baltimore, Md., where he is Assistant Superintendent.

Thanks to Marjorie, we are able to congratulate Neil Benton on his recent election as a partner to Booz, Allen and Hamilton, nationwide management consultants. Neil joined the firm in 1955 as a consulting engineer and two years later became an associate of the firm. Prior to his affiliation, he was production manager of the Skidmore Gear Company. In previous years he has been an industrial engineer with American Greetings Corp. of Cleveland and the Aluminum Company of America at Edgewater,. N. J. The Benton family of three boys and two girls make their home in South Euclid, Ohio.

As on previous occasions, I have all too often had to report the untimely death of one of our classmates. On January 21, Jerry Garduno died quite suddenly at the American British Cowdray Hospital in Mexico' City, leaving his wife, Joanne and their eight-year-old son, Mark. We all remember Jerry and his happy attitude toward life which complemented a conscientious attention to his work. There is no question that a promising corporate executive has died before having the opportunity to realize his full potential. The sympathies of the class are extended to his wife and family. A more complete review of Jerry's career will be found in the In Memoriam section of this or a subsequent issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.
