The basketball team continues to have its ups and downs. In the Ivy League the Big Green record is currently 3-5. After losing to Holy Cross and Springfield, the Indians bounced back to beat Boston University 119-89. The game was unique in that all field goals counted three points, which is a rule change proposed by Coach Doggie Julian. Back to the two-point rule again, the Big Green bowed to Brown, Holy Cross and Cornell, before finally upsetting Columbia, 65-54.

After putting together back-to-back victories against Boston University and Norwich, the '64s ran into a talented Holy Cross team and then were beaten by St. Michael's. The Pea Greens have been unable to muster a consistent scoring punch, but Bob Freeman, Bruce Campbell and Bob Johnston have been leading scorers in recent games.

The Big Green grapplers ended a three-game losing streak with a 29-3 win over the University of Massachusetts. Off the injured list and back in form was Captain Hop Holmberg, who beat his opponent 11-0 in the 147-lb. division.

The '64s put together a fine team effort in beating the Redmen of Massachusetts. The win was the first of the season for Coach Whitey Burnham's yearlings.

The Big Green hockey team has scored at least one goal against every opponent and appears to have the potential to explode offensively. Coach Eddie Jeremiah continues to have his troubles, however, on defense, and no less than four goalies have seen action in the Dartmouth nets.

The freshman hockey team, sparked by Captain John Carpenter of Johnstown, N. Y., has been losing some close ones. The victory by the '64s over Princewas a well-deserved win.
A pair of third-period goals by Harvard gave the '64 Cantabs their second victory of the season over the Pea Greens. John Fiske and Alex Varkas scored the Dartmouth goals.
Track

The track team continues to roll up an impressive list of victories, beating Manhattan and Yale for the first time since World War 11, and Maine in the first meeting of the two teams since 1932.

Considered by Coach Ellie Noyes as a well-balanced team, the '64s had several outstanding performers. Top men in the dash events were Eric Oxboel and Steve Blake; in the middle distances Woody Flowers, and in the mile Bob Newman.
In the field events, Bob Cahners has broken the freshman weight-throwing record three times, while John Prince and Ted Love have dominated the high jump and broad jump.
Swimming

Sparked by record-breakers Charlie Brown and Terry Bentley and a host of other fine swimmers, the Big Green swimming team has continued its winning ways. The only loss during the last month came at the hands of Princeton, while victories have been recorded against Colgate, Army and Brown.

The undefeated '64 swimmers have rewritten the freshman record book. In their most recent outing they established three marks, including a new pool and College record. Against the Portland Boys Club, they won every event except the last relay, in which both teams were disqualified.
John Boynton tied the 100-yard freestyle mark of 52.4 which has stood untouched since 1938. Bill Lewis added his name to the record book in the 100-yard backstroke, and Hank Marshall's 1:08.8 set a new pool and College record in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Against Andover Boynton established a new pool record for the 200-yard freestyle, and Sandy Shapiro came within two-tenths of a second of breaking his own freshman 50-yard mark of 23.4.
Squash

Coach Red Hoehn's squash team brought a seven-game losing streak to an end with an 8-1 victory over Wesleyan. Phil Meyer, Ron Pickett, Dave and Captain Rick Reed continue to hold down the top spots on the team.

Playing St. Paul's, the '64s put together a victory combining the talents of Dick Redington, Doug ludah, Wally Lord, and Whit Foster. Hop Potter is currently playing in the number one position for the freshmen.
