Many people have said that Time is our most precious possession. Time, as used in our Dartmouth experience, has unique significance - a personal meaning to each one of us as alumni. Dartmouth asks us to take Time at this season of the year to appraise her past - how and why she evolved into the institution we have today; to evaluate her present — is she accomplishing goals worthy of her high tradition; and to ponder her future - can she survive. We, as the Dartmouth alumni, are asked to give Time to these inquiries, for in this way we can share the College's responsibility to maintain and strengthen the concept of a liberal education. Because so much in life stands in a state of flux, we are sometimes frightened with the realization that the very foundations which we as part of the vast Dartmouth family have helped to build, may crumble in the onrush of mounting financial needs. The future depends on the Time we now take to ensure the granite structure on which the Dartmouth concept is built.
The annual Alumni Fund Drive started April 1 and will continue through June 30. Head Class Agent, Ted Spiegel and his team of fellow agents will be in contact with us shortly. Last year our 1953 class record of participation was the highest ever recorded in Alumni Fund history for a modern-day class. We have consistently evidenced our deep concern for doing our share. Let's add to an already strong foundation by giving to the 1961 Alumni Fund today.
