Life, Look, Saturday Evening Post, Ladies' Home Journal, Time, and the complete list of popular publications that you desire, can be the means by which we may lend a helping hand to another alumnus recently stricken by polio of the worst kind. Kenneth W. Turner, Class of 1928, is almost completely paralyzed, but with the aid of modern hospital equipment is able to run the K. W. Turner Agency which specializes in placing subscriptions for any magazine. At his home on Free Hill Road, Tompkins Cove, N. Y. (Stony Point 6-3141), Mr. Turner takes care of handling new subscriptions and also renewals. He takes special pleasure in servicing subscriptions for Dartmouth families, and hopes that he may expand this side of his work with our help. He looks forward to hearing from many of us.

Hey, look who just came. Another addition to the '53 roster on April 10 to make Mary Lou and Ralph Heyman proud parents - a girl, Cynthia Ann.

At noon on April 23 in Winchester, Mass., Edith D. Willis changed her name to Mrs. John U. Harris, Jr. Stock brokerage duties with the Harris, Upham and Company in Boston, occupies John's day, and his bride was occupying her time before marriage at the Dana Hall School in Wellesley and later at Mount Vernon Junior College in Washington, D. C. Just happen to have another date handy here - and it is June 4 - a red letter day for John Taylor and Harriet Scott of Birmingham, Mich., when they march the aisle in Greenwich, Conn. The future Mrs. T. is a graduate of Kingswood School in Cranbrook and the University of Michigan, and also holds a B.S. from Columbia University.

As general merchandise manager for the Food Marts, Inc., I'm sure Dave Katz has promoted dates, but he hasn't quoted the specific July date on which he will marry Ruth Jane Cohen of Springfield, Mass. Ruth, a graduate of Classical High and American International College in Springfield will probably be pinning that date down very shortly. Congratulations to the engagees of the month!

Bill French has recently been named state executive director of the Maine chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. After attending Dartmouth, Bill took up studies at the Portland University School of Business Administration. Bill is married to the former Laura M. Luscombe of Portland and they boast a grand family of three children.

The New Haven Journal Courier of April 20 carries the news that Marty De Gennaro has been named associate manager of the new office of Blair and Company, Inc., an investment firm in New Haven, Conn. Marty also holds down the position of President of Dartmouth Club of New Haven. The new position list continues with the report that Dave Berry recently was named to the faculty of Sparta High School in New Jersey. He had previously been teaching seventh and eighth grades in the River Styx School, Hopatcong, N. J. Dave hol'ds his Master's degree from Columbia and is currently president of the Hopatcong Education Association. And New Jerseyite, Phil Beekman has just been appointed Compensation Analyst by the Colgate-Palmolive Company. Phil started with Colgate right after graduation and has held several posts of increasing responsibility in the Jersey City plant — from industrial engineer to administrator of salaried personnel and assistant to the manager of the Household Products Division's Training and Development Department. Phil and family make their home in Berkeley Heights, N. J. Wah-Hoo-Wah, Phil!

Good to hear from John Dickason. He writes interestingly: "I've changed jobs recently, leaving the Illinois State Civil Service Commission where I was employed as a Personnel Technician. I am now working for the Illinois State Bar Association as their Business Manager, a newly created position. It is interesting to note that the Illinois Bar Association is the leading voluntary bar association in the country having over 10,000 members out of a total of some 16,000 total lawyers in the state. New York matches the number of members but has a far larger total number of lawyers, in the neighborhood of 30,000 to 35,000." John goes on to say: "I guess that the only other news is that we still have only our two children, Johnny, five, and Kathy, two. From reading the newsletters, not having another seems to be the exception rather than the rule." The Dickason's home is 3205 Saxony Road, Springfield, Ill.

Just received the news of a new challenge for Bob Jetter who has been named program director for the Schenectady YMCA's Camp Chingachgood. Bob holds a Master's degree in arts from the University of Wyoming and has done additional graduate work at the University of Chicago and also in Munich, Germany.

To those of you who have contributed to the recent Capital Gifts Campaign, we remind you that the annual College Alumni Fund campaign is now in full swing and the strong team of Ted Spiegel and his class agents need your support to meet the Class's goal. The College's goal is $1,000,000 and each of us has the obligation to lend a helping hand to this annual campaign if we did not participate in the Capital Gifts Program. Dartmouth and the Class of 1953 has consistently been a leader in class participation in the Alumni Fund campaign. The objective is clear, can we count on hearing from you so that in President Dickey's words: "The College may continue to move ahead in terms of quality in order to meet the nation's challenge for providing superior educational facilities."

It doesn't seem possible but the 1959-1960 ALUMNI MAGAZINE season is over and now the summer months will intervene before our getting back together in this corner next tall. Thanks for all your notes, cards, and passing along of news. Will look forward to being with you and penning the news again in October.

As I finish this article I want to say that I feel quite thrilled to be going back to Hanover the weekend of May 13-14 to attend the annual meeting of Class Officers.
