Cross Country

Hit hard by graduation, Coach Ellie Noyes will be molding into shape during the next few weeks a cross-country team that will be predominantly young, with several sophomores expected to make their presence felt.

Except for Captain Pete Wells, who was No. 1 throughout most of last year, the remaining runners were either on the freshman team in ’61 or were not consistently among the top five starters. Eric Thompson and Jeff Burnham, both juniors, are expected to be among the stronger runners on the team, while Dave Webber and Lee Daneker, the two best runners from the ’65 squad, could move into the top five group. Other men who should not be counted out include sopho- mores Bob Schwarz and Don DiDio, senior Tim Trescher, and junior Derick Denby.
