Jack Nicolette and Geraldine Lewis were married in Binghamton, N. Y., on August 17. Geraldine graduated from State University College at Cortland, N. Y., with a B.S. in elementary education and has a master's degree in education from the University of Illinois, where Jack is working on his doctorate in physiology. Dick Gutow and Susan Friedlander were married July 23 in East Hills, Long Island. Dick and Sue took a wedding trip to Italy and are now living in Ann Arbor, Mich. Dick is a clinical instructor at the University of Michigan Medical school. John and Alice Wetzel were married in Fanwood, N. J., August 11 and are living on Glenwood Road, Stamford, Conn. Goose is teaching high school English in Stamford while doing graduate work in English at Fairfield University. Ted Novick, who studied at Columbia after Dartmouth, is working toward a doctorate in psychology at Clark University in Worcester. Ted and Nancy McPherson Carswell were married in Southampton, Mass., September 2. BobHall was married July 15 to Sandra Terry m Chicopee, Mass. Sandra received a degree in science from Becker Junior College m Worcester, and is working at M.I.T., where Bob is in research work for the Public Health Service.
Bill Hansen completed his residency in surgery at the University of Michigan Hospital. Bill went through the Army medical orientation course at Fort Sam Houston and is now in the Medical Corps in Germany. Janet Lynne Owens and Bill have recently announced their engagement. Janet graduated from the University of Michigan School of Nursing and is in charge of the nurses in the department of neurosurgery at the university hospital. It was good to have some news about Lee Harp. Lee was married to Miriam White in Atlantic City, N. J., August 25. Miriam graduated from Duke and studied one year in Copenhagen, Denmark. She recently completed training in elementary education at the Whitby School in Greenwich, Conn. Lee was in Army Intelligence in Germany for two years and is now completing studies at Yale Law School.
Foster and Juli Aborn are in Pittsburgh. Foster has been with the Mellon National Bank since 1957 and has recently been moved up the ladder. George Becker received his degree of doctor of dental surgery from the University of Pennsylvania last spring. He and Myrna are starting a tour of Army life, George now holding a commission as first lieutenant. Jim andJeanne Breeden have an eight-months-old daughter. Jim, curate at St. James Church in Roxbury, Mass., was cleared last May at Jackson, Miss., of charges of breach of the peace for seeking service in a bus terminal restaurant. Jim and Jeanne served the Episcopal parish on Martha's Vineyard for two weeks in June. Bob McCausland has joined Shearson, Hammill and Co., a Jersey City investment firm. Bob has been with the Hanover Bank in New York and two years with the First National Bank of Jersey City. Alkie Voulgaris, with the Shawmut Bank in Boston, is a district director for this year's Greater Boston United Fund drive. John DiIorio has been named a section chairman for this fall's drive. John and Paula have two children and are living in Burlington, Mass. Chuck Woodhouse was chairman of the 1962 Manchester, Conn., Mental Health Fund campaign. He and Bev and child are living on South Adams Street in Manchester.
First news of Don Hessler in a while; Don studied at Penn after Dartmouth and has been with Union & New Haven Trust Co. In August Don took a position as securities analyst for the University of Rochester. Bernt and Marcia Stigum are both heading into the teaching profession this fall. Bernt received his doctor's degree in mathematical-economics from M.I.T. last June and is teaching at Cornell. Marcia has a doctorate in economics from M.I.T. and is teaching first semester at Wellesley before joining Bernt in Ithaca. Sid and SuzanneDevorsetz and son Marc are back in Albany, N. Y., after a tour with the Air Force. Sid is back on the job as Assistant Attorney General in the State Litigation Bureau. Tom and Sandra Harper have moved to Carmel, Calif. Tom has begun a two-year Navy postgraduate school program at Monterey. Larry and Pam Furrer and their three children have moved from Wilbraham, Mass., to Webster Groves, Mo. Larry was made a marketing research manager in the Plastics Division in Monsanto's St. Louis office. Todd Driscoll has joined a Minneapolis investment firm and is living on St. Alban Street in St. Paul. Clem Malin and the WWW brought in some news on SandyHeath. Sandy received a Scott Paper Fellowship Award for 1962. He teaches history and coaches track and cross-country at the Swarthmore, Pa., high school. Sandy is working on a master's in history and education. He and Sue have one child with another expected soon.
Dick and Janie Fawcett are living in Canton, Ohio. Dick took a special course at Ft. Belvoir, Va., in the civil defense shelter problem and has been heading a team from his engineering firm studying the problem for his county in Ohio. Al Holzwarfh completed his studies at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia and last June began a tour with the Air Force as a lieutenant in the Medical Service. In August Al finished his orientation course in Alabama, and he and Joan moved to Maine, where Al is stationed at Dow A.F.B. Line and RobinSpaulding have a son as of Sept. 15 according to an illustrated message just received.
Dudley Towe and I appear to be the remnant of a once large '56 group in graduate work at Harvard. Dud is completing his studies at Harvard Law School and has been taking courses at the business school as well. Tiny Strong, back from a summer trip to Europe, is with a Boston law firm and has turned over the chiefdom of the Indians at Harvard to a recent graduate. The club continues to thrive with much activity, many members and honorary members, and is still the only organization of its kind around here.
At the Chestnut Street Fire House, Princeton, N. J., November 24 after the game, the Class of '55 has invited us to what has always been a great occasion, inexpensive, and something to eat. See you there.
