Our late classmate, Charles Duncan, Harvard Medical 1903 had long served the State of New Hampshire as Secretary of its Board of Health. Charles left us in 1935. From his widow, herself a graduate cum laude of Radcliffe 1900, comes this informative letter from Seabrook, N. H., "Dear Mr. Seelman: It is very nice to be hearing from a member of the class of 1898, although I do hear from Bucky (Chandler) now and then. At 87 years of age I find myself forgetting many things, but my daughter, Eleanor, with whom I make my home, is at hand to fill the vacant spots. A broken leg, acquired two years ago, is quite a handicap, but I still manage to get around a little with the aid of a cane. All my interests are in Concord and I miss the club meetings I used to attend; such as Women's College Club, Stratford Shakespeare Club, Hospital Associates, and the like. Life still goes on even if it has slowed up for me. Best wishes to you for the New Year. Sincerely Charlotte Ilsley Duncan."

The Duncans have three children, Laurence, Eleanor and Margaret. Lawrence Ilsley Duncan, Dartmouth A.B. 1927, Phi Beta Kappa, Harvard Law LL.B. 1930, is a Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court. His wife is Doris M. (Hackett). They have two children, Stuart B. Duncan, Dartmouth A.B. 1954, who is married to Minerva Morse; and James H. S. Duncan, graduate of Colby and N. H. University who is married to Ruthann Richardson; Eleanor Duncan, A.B. Radcliffe '29 who is married to Walter P. Brockway, A.B. Harvard '29. They have three children, Duncan Brockway, St. Johns, Annapolis, Princeton B.D., who is librarian of Princeton Theological School; Duncan has three children, Peter, Andrew and Ellen; Barbara Brockway, Colby and Barnard, who is the wife of John H. Perey, Colby, Phi Beta Kappa; they have two daughters, Roberta and Patricia; Alan Priest Brockway, St. Johns A.B., awaiting Master's degree at Cornell. Alan's wife, Barbara Fink, holds an A.B. at Stanford, M.S. at Cornell and now awaits her Ph.D. at Cornell. Margaret Duncan, Hartford Seminary M.R.E. is the wife of Howard Elmo Short, Hartford B.D., Ph.D. They have two daughters, Charlotte M. Short, sophomore at Central College, Mo.; Catherine J. Short, Junior High, St Louis, Mo.

George H. Nolan, dear old "Doc," died in 1953. An engineer, he lived in Cuba for more than a quarter of the century. Hundreds of docks, sugar refineries, and other large projects resulted from his endeavors. Quiet, reserved but plain spoken, a loyal son of Dartmouth, his memory will always be revered. His widow, Anna, herself the holder of several college degrees, writes from the Nolan home in Middleboro, Mass., this modest note. "Dear Mr. Seelman: I was very pleased to know that, among your other duties, you are to have charge of the Class News of '98. For a long time it has been dying and it seemed about dead. It is a difficult task to get people to write about themselves. They will talk about themselves but rarely want to write about themselves. Hope you have the cooperation of all the class members. Now that another year is about here may I wish a happy and peaceful year to you, your wife, your family and their families. I shall give give you a call sometime when I am in New York. Best wishes, as ever, Anna."
