From Florida comes word that Ray Wain is becoming a regular attendant at the Dartmouth Club of Sarasota parties. He has just retired from the management of Bradenton's biggest department store (the second retirement, in fact - he having been brought out of a previous retirement to take over the Bradenton post two years ago). His perma- nent home now is in Bradenton, ten miles north of Sarasota.

Also from Florida, Sumner Emerson, among his other activities (including the vice presidency of the Dartmouth Club of Sarasota), is busy chasing Special Gifts (i.e. big money gifts) for "New College," now being established in Sarasota. Sponsored and nestegged by the Congregational Board of Pub- lic Missions, this new project has acquired a beautiful site, and will probably open a year from next September. It is a liberal arts, non-sectarian, private college whose purposes and character closely resemble Dartmouth's - a unique idea down there in the South.

By the time you read these notes, those of you in Florida may have caught sight of Jack Saladine as he is scheduled to be at the Gasparilla Inn at Boca Grande from March 6 to 22. He is looking forward to some good tarpon fishing while there.

A good letter from Russ Fisher tells most enthusiastically about how much he is enjoying Phoenix and his new home there. All of his former ailments have practically disappeared due to the wonderful Arizona climate, and Russ says that it is no wonder that the place is called The Valley of the Sun. Russ sent his best to "all the gang" and expressed the hope that if any 177'ers get out his way, they will stop by to see him.

Those of you fortunate enough to have, or to have access to, a copy of the February issue of Town and Country should turn to the article beginning on page 100, entitled "Beauty on the Beaten Path" by George R. Marek. The article features several color pictures by none other than Gene Towler including a particularly beautiful picture of the Aegean Islands as seen from St. John's Holy Shrine. This particular photograph completely fills pages 100 and 101. If I recall correctly, Greece was Gene's first port when, during 1960, he and Lucile took their European trip, so it is pretty certain that the photographs mentioned were taken at that time.

While it is not an event of world-shaking importance, the writer might in passing report that on February 20 he was elected president of Woodstock's local health center - the Ottauquechee Health Center, and chairman of its executive committee. And oddly enough, Helen has been for the past year, and still is, chairman of the Center's Women's Auxiliary.

In response to my February appeal for the return of completed questionnaires, exactly one has been returned. Please, I ask in all seriousness, complete and return the questionnaires. The information requested is of vital importance to a class secretary.
