The people who dole out the space for this epistle have asked me not to talk so much this time so they can publish the more important earlier special sections for your enlightenment. Therefore, let me get right down to the business at hand. It's always interesting when someone comes up with an original idea. Roil Fraser seems to have a great one. Ron is an economics teacher in Glen Ellyn, Ill., and as part of the class Ron gives each student a "fictional" $20,000 to invest in the stock market. The students pick a few companies to put their money in and then watch the progress over a period of a semester. In having his students "play" the market Ron is getting a solid lesson of how our economic system works across as well as well as having a good time in doing it. In the New York stock game Fahnestock and Co. announced in the Wall St. Journal that David Canfield has become a registered representative with them.

In the insurance business the Glens Falls Ins. Co. and Bob Hamilton are getting along happily together. The Insurance Co., after having Bob complete a home office training course in its home office, has appointed him a field assistant in the southern Connecticut territory. Dave Orr has been appointed an assistant in the office of Sid Hayward '26. Dave will be responsible for class activities and reunions. Great, Dave, just in time for our reunion next year. Congratulations. A note from Dr. Henry Binder caught a lot of people up with the '57 notes - "I was married on May 28, 1961, to the former Miss Joan Wilen, Smith '60 and Larry Lubow was an usher at the wedding. In June '61, five members of the class, after four years of magnificent living in New York, graduated from N.Y.U. School of Medicine. George Cox is now interning at University Hospital, Madison, Wis., Bob Creasy is at Moffit Hospital in San Francisco, Larry Lubow is at Montefiore Hospital in N.Y.C., Joel Samuelson is at the University of Pittsburgh Hospitals, and I am an interne at Bellevue Hospital in New York, where I plan to remain next year as a resident in medicine."

In the engagement column Dr. Erv Phillips plans to be married this spring to Miss Elizabeth Needham, a nurse in New York. Erv is now in the Navy and is stationed at the Naval Hospital in Newport, R. I. LarrieCalvert and Miss Gretchen Halquist, who will graduate from Smith in June, have announced their engagement. Dave Jenkins and Miss Susan Killebrew have also swung into the engagement column. Dave, after completing the tour of duty in the Coast Guard as a Lt. (j g) is now with the Southern New England Telephone Co. By the time you read this Miss June Campbell will have become Mrs. George Macdonald. George is at "The B School" in Cambridge and previously was associated with the U.S. Navy - a "JG" of course.

In the wedding set are Mr. and Mrs. TomHayden. Tom and his bride, the former Doris Hedblom, are living in Cincinnati, where Tom is with the Kroger Co. as a financial analyst. Marty Anderson was an usher in the wedding. Addie Bowman and Miss Giselle Ziehike were married Dec. 23. Addie was in the Navy stationed in the Pacific and is now at the Dickenson Law School.

Congratulations to all of you. Oops, the magazine people are closing in on me for talking too much! Have a wonderful month, Gang. — Skip.
