Alumni Award Bestowed on Kenneth Henderson '16

The President's Dinner held at the University Club, Chicago, by the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago on March 21 provided the occasion for presenting a Dartmouth Alumni Award to Kenneth M. Henderson '16. Henry L. Parker III '26, member of the Dartmouth Alumni Council and president of the Chicago Alumni Association, made the award on behalf of the Council. Following is the citation he read:

The name of Kenneth Manning Henderson has long been synonymous with Dartmouth in Chicago and the Class of 1916. Your college and your career have been two of your major devotions. Your outstanding success with Ditto, Inc., should have been enough to consume all your energies. Yet time and time again you have extended yourself to be of major service to Dartmouth.

Leaving Hanover in 1916, you enlisted in the Quartermaster Corps and served for the duration of the First World War. In 1919 you joined the infant firm that was to become the now famous Ditto - a symbol of leadership in the duplicating field. Your contribution to that corporation through almost forty years is beyond calculation. You were president of the firm from 1946 until retirement in 1958.

Dartmouth affairs have always received your full support and devotion. You have served as member and president of the Alumni Council, chairman of the 1952 and 1953 Alumni Fund campaigns, and as a class worker and Chicago Alumni Association officer. Your son is Dartmouth Class of 1951.

During your presidency of the Alumni Council, the National Enrollment Program was established when, at a meeting of the Council in Chicago in 1954, it was decided to form the National Enrollment Committee which is now strengthening Dartmouth in every part of the country. ... This is just one example of the devoted, full-hearted, and talented leadership you have given to Dartmouth College.

Thus, it is with great pride that we honor your achievements with the Dartmouth Alumni Award.
