The annual spring meeting of the Dartmouth Club of Central Florida was held on Saturday night, March 10, at the Barbizon Restaurant in Winter Park, Fla. At this evening meeting, the following officers were elected to serve the club during 1962: JohnVandegrift '44, President; Yal Schuler '45, Vice President; Frank Tepper '55, Secretary; Phil Pendleton '54, Treasurer.

After dinner and business were disposed of, the 32 people present were privileged to hear an address by John W. Masland, Provost of the College. Mr. Masland began his talk by answering a question that many of those present had - "just what is a Provost," and we thereby learned that his role was that of an educational administrator who worked closely with the administration on academic problems.

We were all very interested to hear about the progress and development of the Hopkins Center and how functional the building will be. Of similar interest to us were the remarks concerning other construction on the Hanover Plain, particularly the new math building, the new dormitory for medical students, and the new field house. We were unaware that all these new edifices were simultaneously being constructed, and it was reassuring to us to hear from Mr. Masland that, when we return to the college, we will still recognize familiar landmarks and feel at home.

The Provost concluded his talk by telling us about the honor system and then the great strides being made in academic expansion, with particular emphasis on fields of study foreign to the western world.

We welcome all visiting alumni to the monthly luncheon held on the last Tuesday of each month. Do come see us!

Secretary, 5724 Kenmore Lane, Orlando, Fla.
