THE election of Ewart G. Walls Jr. '38 of Hartford, Conn., as president of the General Association of Dartmouth Alumni was announced at the Commencement dinner held in Alumni Gymnasium on June 9. The Association is 108 years old and includes some 30,000 Dartmouth alumni in its membership.

Mr. Walls is assistant vice president of the agency department of the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company. He joined the company immediately after graduation from Dartmouth, serving as agent in Chicago and later heading the Los Angeles agency. He was brought to the home office in 1951, became superintendent of agencies in 1957, and moved up to his present position in March 1962. He has been active in alumni club affairs wherever he has resided, and for the Class of 1938 he has been class agent, treasurer, and memorial fund chairman. In the Capital Gifts Campaign he headed the Central Connecticut fund drive.

Other Alumni Association officers elected for 1962-63 include three vice presidents: Franklin F. Doten '23 of Hanover, William H. Kendall '32 of Louisville, Ky., and Lyman E. Wakefield ' 33 of Wayzata, Minn.; and the secretary-treasurer, Sidney C. Hayward '26 of Hanover.

M. Carter Strickland '29 of Oneida, N. Y., was reelected chairman of the executive committee. Other members are Warde Wilkins '13 of Potter Place, N. H.; Robert S. Engelman '34 of Chicago; Howard K. Clery '53 of Needham, Mass.; Edward J. Matthews Jr. '57 of Pelham, N. Y.; Richard S. Stoddard '58 of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and Richard G. Jaeger '59 of North White Plains, N. Y.
