I had debated making a few resolutions for our class but quickly discarded the idea. Instead I will make three admonitions for 1963 before cleaning up the unfinished business of 1962.

First: Pay your class dues. Second: Kick in heavily when Johnny Klein and his associate agents hit you for the Alumni Fund. Third: Find a new quarterback to replace Bill King. Now back to '62.

It was a magnificent 1962 for those of us who are still immature enough to take fierce pride in the Green's gridiron exploits. And I say this even though a majority of the sporting classmates I know lost money on the Princeton game due to a blind confidence which prompted the allowance of fourteen to twenty points.

It was a notable year, too, for the Class of '52 which got out a record number for tenth reunion and for many individual members of the Class who moved forward with vigor in their chosen careers. But as for me, I guess it's time I ate a little crow.

I made a remark a couple of months back about the seeming decline in the birthrate of Our Dear Class. That was before I collated the 265 or so cards I received from you out there. At this writing, I am happy to announce, I count a total of forty births in 1962 which, to my knowledge, have not been reported before. And so, at the risk of boring everyone but the proud fathers, godfathers, and friends of the family, I intend to list, in some disorder, the names of said offspring along with their progenitors.

I have at least one child for every month except December, which is about as universal as you can get considering this is written December 2.

On January 2, Rem Kinne started it with Corbin Knox Kinne, his second boy.

In February along came Scott MacLeod, first son, third child of Don MacLeod; Shelby Ann Fleck, firstborn of Cy Fleck; Charles Katz, third son of Herb Katz; and Sarah Freeh, first child of Bob Freeh.

In March, Maude Hecht joined two brothers in Ted Hecht's household; Jennifer Carleton joined a brother and two sisters in the Dick Carleton family; Leonard Glasser became the first child of Rollo Glasser; and Mary Roberts Sumner joined one brother in chez Ed Sumner.

April was kind of slow, but I doubt that Jenny Hedberg, second daughter to LenHedberg (the well-known Dr. Lobe) is. Same goes for Rebecca Ann Klotz, second daughter, third child of Bob Klotz.

In May Sarah Stewart first looked at her brother, sister, mother and father, BillStewart; Bart Lombardi Jr. joined a sister at Bart Lombardi's place; and Judith Stephan made things livelier for two sisters at CarlStephan's.

June picked up considerably. There was Charlie Phillips, third son of Rog Phillips; Nelson Ehinger Jr., first child of Nels Ehinger Sr.; Susan Cliff, third child, second daughter of Lee Cliff; James Paul Epranian, firstborn of Ardie Epranian; Carolyn Cunningham, third child, second daughter of Marty Cunningham; and William Parker, Ev Parker's second son.

Just as good was July which saw the arrival of David Allen Storck, first heir of George Storek; Alicia Clapp, second daughter of Bill Clapp; Sarah Richardson, second daughter of Bubs Richardson; Helen Branigin, Doug Branigin's firstborn; Lindsay Bartlett, John Bartlett's first daughter, second child; and Jordana Porges, first child of Bob Porges.

In August came Sarah Muller, second daughter, third child of Arn Muller; David Haycock, third son of Bob Haycock; and Stephen Carstens, Connie Carsten's third son.

In September our class legacies increased by only two: Karen Martha Perthel, first daughter, third child of Doug Perthel; and David Michael Domash, second son of George Domash.

In October, Tom Schanck acquired his first child, a daughter, Karen; Deke Dorey got his first girl, fourth child, and named her Debra; Don Moore got his first, a boy named Donald Pattison; and Roy Wikstron's wife, Shirley, presented him with his fifth child whose name and gender will remain a mystery until I can decipher the writing on this card or Roy rescues me with another card.

And most recent known arrival, born November 22, is Anne Woodruff Davidson, first daughter, third child of Dek Davidson, who wonders why he doesn't see me in the Dartmouth Club of New York but who doesn't offer to pay my dues there.

Then there are those five fathers who believe even an infant should have some privacy and have declined to name the month and day of their children's births. Bill Biddle now has a second son, Edward Eliot; DaveSwain has a second son, third child, named Doug; Charlie Allen has his fifth (count 'em five) son William; Chuck Nevens has a second daughter, third child, named .Mary Kathleen; and Mendy Balkin has his second son, Daniel.

Phew! Next time I make some derogatory remark about the manhood of our class please remind me of this line up.

Before I go I would like to ask Gil Upton to let us know if he was elected to the New Hampshire State Legislature, then maybe we can close the book on '62. Almost anyway. There'll be more news from the cards next time. And let's not forget that Al Reich starts 1963 in Massachusetts Memorial Hospital and would like to hear from you.

Happy New Year everyone! And thanks for all the cards. Look for the next exciting episode one month from now!

Looking ahead to next June, HowieClery, '53 president, and Dick Blum, '53reunion chairman (right), compare tenthreunion notes with their '52 counterparts,Jack Boyle and Bernie Lewis.
