A new administrative position, Director of Planning and Project Administration, has been established by the Trustees, and James W. Stevens '50, formerly secretary of the Inland Steel-Ryerson Foundation in Chicago, has been appointed to the job.

Mr. Stevens will have three general areas of responsibility. He will have charge of the coordination of all planning throughout areas of the College responsible to the Office of the Provost. In this connection he will serve as the principal liaison between these areas and the Office of the Treasurer. He also will work with and through faculty agencies and administrative offices, having primary responsibility in particular academic areas.

Secondly, the new director of planning will assist the Provost and his associates in the administrative development and support of specific educational and research projects. Lastly, under the responsibility of the President and Trustees, Mr. Stevens will develop and coordinate long-range planning for the institution as a whole and in this connection will work with the Treasurer and others in developing and maintaining a five-year or more budget projection for all areas of the institution.

Following graduation Mr. Stevens went on to gain his M.B.A. from New York University and to various business positions in New York and Chicago. His recent responsibilities have given him extensive experience in the foundation field and in working with colleges and universities in the Midwest.
