Dartmouth's informal rugby club started the 1957 season well by successfully defending its Bermuda Cup at the annual spring Bermuda Week. The Indians lost the opening game to the Bermuda A.A. team, strongest team on the island, by a close 5-3 score, but came back to defeat another Bermuda team 41-0 and defeat Harvard 3-0 for the Bermuda Cup. In the most recent game with the Big Green ruggers won 3-0, while Dartmouth's second team lost to the Yale first team by a 3-0 score.

This year the Big Green will be defending its Eastern Rugby Association Championship, won last year, against Harvard, Princeton, M.I.T. and the New York Rugby Club. Cornell, Montreal and an All-Star team from Quebec are also on the spring schedule, while the Rugby Club's second team plays Yale, Princeton and Cornell.
