Out in Rochester, Minn., Dr. Collin MacCarty, a member of the staff of the Mayo Clinic since 1946, was appointed head of the Section of Neurological Surgery. He is also general chairman of the Mayo Centennial to be commemorated at the Mayo Clinic in 1964.

In Detroit Lem Bowen, assistant treasurer of the Burroughs Corporation since 1955, was elected treasurer. Lem joined the company in 1937 and has been there ever since, except for time our during World War II. For the record, his activities include being a trustee of the McGregor Fund, Merrill Palmer Institute, and the St. Luke's Episcopal Church Home, as well as being a director of the Detroit chapter of the Red Cross.

A note from Wayne Ballantyne from New York mentions that he has been "out of town a good deal lately." Out of town, he explains, refers to a business trip in September to Panama and another in October. He took Mavis along on one of them for the first visit to her birthplace in 19 years. This sounds to us like nice duty.

Bill Steck '31 dropped us a line to report the death in an automobile accident of Bill Griffiths. The tragic accident is described in the obituary section of this or a subsequent MAGAZINE. Bill Steck reports an apparent scarcity of '37 classmates in the Cleveland area, but says that WarrenCrumbine takes a prominent role in Dart- mouth affairs to uphold the reputation of the class.

No sooner had we sent off that item about John Ohlinger being in New Hampshire than along came an Air Force news bulletin reporting that he is now chief of the long range objectives division in Headquarters, Continental Command, at Robins AFB in Georgia. Now a Lieutenant Colonel, John was commissioned in 1941.

Yin Dahlfred is said to be in line to be full-time industrial agent for Portland, Me. Vin was secretary to Governor Sherman Adams in New Hampshire back in 1950-52, and was assistant director of industrial development in N. H. for nine years.

Roy Curtis, who has been with the Travelers Insurance Company since 1937, has been named superintendent in the group department of the Hartford, Conn., organization.

And as we rush this to the mail, word comes that Carl Noyes has been elected alderman of Ward 1 in Manchester, N. H.
