Eleven out of 13 members of the Class Executive Committee converged on Chicago on Friday evening, April 19, for the first such meeting held apart from reunions since graduation. That Saturday saw a full day of work at Class Chairman Herb Knight's home, work which should pay dividends for both Class and College in the near future.

.A full report on what was accomplished with regard to a long agenda will be published in the Class Newsletter. The most significant decision was to expand the Executive Committee to provide for broader geographic representation.

Those in attendance were Chicago hometowners Pete Henderson and Dave Hilton, Head Agent Dick Rogers from exurban Cleveland, Treasurer Tom Porter from Cincinnati, Dave Saxton from Winston-Salem, Loye Miller from Washington, D. C., AI Karcher and Hank Sanders from New York City, Newsletter Editor Charlie Breed from Hanover, and yours truly from Philadelphia.

Saturday evening, Jim and Elaine Bovaird hosted a party for the above plus Nancy Henderson, Ginny Hilton, Greta Rogers Nancy Chadwell (Herb Knight's fiancee), Jean Bowler, Tom Barnett and date, TomFlack and date, Jack and Teddi Giegerich,John and Joan Greenwood, Bob and JoanHopkins, and Ned Petrequin '50.

The Class is still doing its share to add to the population explosion. Bob and Liz Jackson of La Jolla, Calif., added Thomas Ratchff to the growing '51 horde in March My source reports weight on arrival at 11 lbs Have you purchased that Big Green football uniform yet, Bob?

Jerry Staton, Pastor of St. John's Reformed Church, La Crosse, Wise., recently imported Sam Chu as principal speaker at his church's Mission Fest and as Sunday morning preacher. Jerry and wife Shirley with three children, have been in La Crosse for five years. Jerry's apparently making progress, since his church boasts a new educational addition, partially visible in the nearby picture.

Sams subject was the history, culture, and politics of the "Rim of East Asia." He spent last year in Formosa, with wife Lucy and baby, on a Fulbright fellowship for research in Chinese history. Sam is now Associate Professor of History at the University of Pittsburgh, having previously been at Bucknell.

. Harry McCaffrey, a senior English teacher in the advanced placement program at Stamford (Conn.) high school, has been selected as a John Hay Fellow for 1963-64. This gives him a year's leave to study the' humanities at one of six universities at full salary plus expenses. There are only 90 such fellowships.

After graduation from Dartmouth, Harrv continued his studies at Columbia, Wayne State, and NYU. He has taught in Maryland, Wisconsin, and Michigan. At Stam tord, he is faculty sponsor of the school" newspaper and literary review and literary advisor to the yearbook. With wife and two resides in Glenbrook, Conn.

As of you have no doubt read. New Hampshire s first Democratic governor in umpteen years, if ever, recently approved legislation creating a state lottery. Thev're also getting ABCD (same day business distnct mail delivery) in Manchester, and MikeMonroney, executive assistant to the Post, master General, was on hand to launch it.

Let's leave the New Frontier for the more traditional North Country, where as Maine goes so goes. ...Ted Corsones is the new Republican State Chairman for Vermon? Lawyer Ted practices in Rutland where he Republican State's Attorney from 1957 to 1961 and then a Municipal Judge. With he resides in Mendon.

Doug Frandsen has moved up to Assistant Manager of Armstrong Cork's largest distruct office. the NeW York Floor Division Office. Doug, who is married with two children, joined Armstrong in 1954. He served in a variety of sales positions, most recently as Assistant District Manager in St Louis, before coming to New York.

Fluid Controls, Inc., of Cleveland has promoted Bob Koski to the new position of Assistant Manager, Marketing. Bob joined Fluid Controls m 1958 working on new products and since 1960 has been an application engineer in the Marketing Department. He will now be responsible for all application engineering and advertising of to distributors and customers.

Also out Cleveland-way, another guy,' who now has about 100 loyal '51's working under him has been hard at work for several months on the College's "margin of excellence," Rogers reminded us in Chicago of President Dickey's well turned phrase. For that s just the difference the Alumni Fund makes, the difference between an alma mater we d all be ashamed of and a Dartmouth the front ranks of private educa- tion in this country.
