Here are a few notes of classmates which have come to me since our reunion. Jimmieand Fanny Walker on August 14, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Seems like a long time since they said "I do." The family clan were there to celebrate the occasion at Swampscott, Mass. Their son Jimmy Jr., graduated from Dartmouth in 1933 and became a doctor. This grand old couple have a son, three daughters, thirteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; a home where love and trust and mutual respect and understanding have blessed them. May the Great Master continue his blessing with health, comfort and cheer. Our congratulations.

David and Mildred Ford sent wonderful fine message. Dave is writing a history of his world travels and medical experiences as a doctor in China, where he met and married Mildred; his travels in Siberia, China, Japan, South America, and many places. How happy we shall be to receive your history, Dave. Keep going, old timer. Love to Mildred.

After Ike Maynard returned to Daytona Beach from the class reunion, he decided to take a bus trip to California and way stations. Just back, said fine trip but tough on old folks. Don't try it unless you are well and strong. So many of the boys and girls too, have written the Secretary since our return to Florida. Thanks, dear folks, for your kind messages which have touched me deeply.

While writing these notes, word comes of the death of President Emeritus Ernest Martin Hopkins, president of Dartmouth from 1916 to 1945. He was a senior in college, Class 1901, when we were freshmen. Beck was reminded it was "Hoppy" who got him a job waiting on tables - freshman year. Beck has never forgotten his interest in and kindness to him of this great man. It was Hoppy who caught the vision which Dr. Tucker had of the future of Dartmouth College and carried out that dream to magnificent fulfillment and it was Hoppy who said, "Dartmouth is not concerned so much with what a man shall do, as she is in what a man shall be." Hopkins Center is a grand memorial to one of the greatest of great Dartmouth men. He won the respect and affection of all of us. We shall always cherish his memory.

In this or a subsequent issue of the MAGAZINE will be found the obituaries of four men who have passed away since our June Issue. Pen Mower, Wilfred Whittemore, RosyHinman, and Charlie Rich. We mourn their passing and a Salute to their memory.

What a wonderful report by Squid in his final year of service for the Class as its class Alumni Fund Agent. Thanks, boys and girls, for the generous part you have played in support of Squid. And to dear old Squid - what can we say but thanks, old timer. God Bless you and bring you comfort and cheer.

Sorry to report the death of Mrs. Don Hobbs. Our sympathy to Don. A Wah Hoo Wah for Dartmouth football team. Keep your chin up boys, dig in a little deeper, hit the line a little harder and come up with that winning touchdown. The old grads are behind you all the way.

Cheerio. Write your Secretary.
