CLASS ATTENDANCE

The Undergraduate Council last month adopted, by a 57-3 vote, a resolution asking the administration and faculty to drop all required class attendance for upperclass courses. This move, said UGC, would be in keeping with "Dartmouth's stated principles of independent learning and individual responsibility." How far the faculty will go in meeting the UGC petition is a good question, but several professors interviewed by The Dartmouth gave their support in principle.
