Thanks to one loyal classmate and a news clipping service that has been working overtime, the mailbag is not completely empty, but it sure isn't brimming over. Gene Bronsfein's interesting letter filled me in on the past several years and it is discouraging to find that we lived only a few miles apart for over eight years without having the pleasure of getting together. These things do happen. Gene and Fay and their three Dartmouth hopefuls, Jeffrey, Fred, and David, ages 10, 7, and 3 respectively, live in Stoneham, Mass., and he has been associated with Filene's, a Boston department specialty store, during that period. He is a divisional merchandise manager. Gene seems to get around and has just returned from a European business trip where he and Fay found the differences in peoples, cultures, and customs most interesting. Gene has recently taken a course at the Harvard Business School and is active in the Boston Rotary Club. Thanks for the letter, Gene - maybe others will follow suit.

Dr. Lowell Steele has been named as a consultant on research operations by General Electric. Lowell played a leading role in a study of scientific research throughout the corporation, which led to the organization of G.E.'s new Research Consulting Service. In the new organization, he will continue to lead teams of research laboratory people with the ultimate purpose of providing advice and counsel on the utilization of research in industrial operations. He is the author of many papers and articles in his field and in 1960 was a visiting lecturer at the University of Leeds, England, where he conducted semi- nars in executive development. Lowell and his wife and three children reside in Schenectady. N.Y.

We have an address change on Lt. Cmdr.Bob Day, who now lives in Alexandria, Va. Bob is director of the Administrative Services Division - Navy Federal Credit Union. Dr. David Warren has recently been appointed to the teaching staff of the Manchester Community College in Manchester, Conn. Dave is a specialist in the practice of internal medicine and cardiology, having graduated from Tufts Medical School after Dartmouth. He is on the staff of the Manchester Memorial Hospital.

Just received a news release, with picture, from the Continental Insurance Company announcing new responsibilities for Jim Kelley. He has been with Continental since 1952 when he served as a special agent in Boston and New York and later as a supervisor in Chicago. He made the big jump back to Newark in 1961 and was appointed an assistant secretary. This release announces additional supervisory production and underwriting responsibilities. Jim and Barbara live in Summit, N.J., with their two children.

Sanford Gottlieb was a recent visitor to Hanover when he was on a panel, along with movie actor Robert Ryan '32, on behalf of SANE. Sanford is political action director of this organization and operates out of Washington, D.C.

The marriage parade continues - proving anew that life does begin at 40. We are pleased to announce the marriage of Richard Flicker to Miss Jane Mason of Bronxville, N.Y., and Stonington, Conn. Dick went on to Rutgers and New York University Law School after Dartmouth and is now president of Customs Chemical Company in East Rutherford, N.J. Another quick note on Jud Hannigan, still on his way up, and recently appointed to the staff of the president of International Paper Company. Jud was transferred to the New York headquarters of the company early in 1963 and according to reports from his fellow commuters is now a confirmed New Yorker. Ross Bacon has been named as agent for the Allstate Insurance Company, having joined this organization in September. Ross will represent Allstate in New Jersey.

After a month's absence, here we go back to "Last Words." The last word from John Alden was in January 1961, at which time he was vice president of Alden Products Company, engaged in the electronics business in Brockton, Mass. He was also president of the Alden Electronics and Impulse Recording Equipment Company. He and Joan and their three children live in Need- ham, Mass. John is an 11th generation direct descendant of the man who made him- self famous by proposing for Miles Standish and then getting the fair one himself. As top executive of two companies, I doubt if he is often admonished to "speak up for yourself, John." How about bringing us up to date? .

Last word from Paul Allen was in October of 1960 when he was office manager of Walter Dorwan Teague Associates, a company concerned with industrial design. He had previously been with the Irving Trust Company in New York. Paul and his wife Blanche, with their son Robert, live in Long Island City, N.Y. Are you still there and what has happened recently?

Dick Allen, an old KUA friend prior to Dartmouth, was last heard from in October of 1960. At that time he was with the Swiss Re Corporation, an investment management firm and previously had been with J. P. Morgan and Company. Dick and Marsha live in Noroton, Conn., and have three girls, the last two being twins, born January 1956. Any more twins to report, Dick?

The final last word is on Dr. Bill Allison, who has not reported in since way back in January of 1950. At that time he lived in Ardmore, Pa., and was associated with the Jefferson Hospital. Fourteen years is a long time, Bill - how about an up-to-date report?

The column is somewhat brief this month so how about helping out for the next issue?

Best regards from the hills.
