Another month has rolled around - the rains have come and the snow has gone - the troops are restless. Still some hope for more of that white stuff, but it looks grim. Anyone for tennis?

Turning to more pleasant things, my first happy duty is to report the arrival of a new son to the Colin Gunns of Westport, Conn. This news was transmitted on the class dues slip so it appears that daddy still has enough money to take care of other important things in life. Naturally, I cannot resist the temptation to urge all of you to follow Colin's lead and pay up for this year. Even old RYK has done it, so there's no reason for any of you to hold back now. Send those dues to Frank Ettari - he needs the money.

Dr. William C. Grant Jr. has been promoted to full professor at Williams College. Bill received his Ph.D. at Yale after leaving Hanover and taught at Gettysburg, William and Mary, and Dartmouth before going to Williams. He has published a score of papers, been Chairman of the Department of Biology at Williams since 1963 and is currently on sabbatical leave in England working in the Department of Zoology at Oxford.

Going back to skiing, I was delighted to receive a copy of Rick Shambroom's book, "Skiing with Control," which he and Ms wife have recently published. My girls and I have had great fun poring over your book, Rick, and we much appreciate your thoughtfulness - maybe I'll learn these new techniques after all. Second bit of news from Mr. Shambroom concerns his resignation from Young & Rubicam to join the marketing department at Doyle, Dane, Bernbach as Manager of Merchandising and Promotion Development. This sounds like an exciting move - does it leave you time to write more books?

News on Jack Ulrich from good wife Beth who tells us that Jack was recently named Director of Market Research for the American Tobacco Company. Though Beth was too modest to rave about Jack's progress, we know that he has moved fast in this big company and has been involved in some exciting projects. Ellsworth Trowsdale has been named Manager of Marketing and Sales Administration for the Arrow Liqueurs Division of Heublein, Inc. He left the wholesale paper business about eight years ago to join Heublein and has worked in the marketing division since that time.

Dr. Larry Carpenter is leaving for South Viet Nam on an interesting tour as a volunteer with Project Viet Nam which involves working at various hospitals in that country for an undetermined length of time. Larry lives in Point Arena, Calif., with his wife and four children and is volunteering because "it is an opportunity for a civilian physician to do his bit to spread good will without the necessity of giving up his home town practice for good."

Linn McBride has been promoted to the position of Central District Manager of the Sales Department at Columbian Carbon Company. Previously in charge of Columbian's Detroit, Mich., branch, he will move to Chicago to assume his new responsibilities.

Charles Denneen has been appointed secretary of the Royal-Globe Company. He joined this company following graduation and has worked in the personnel department in various capacities since that time. In his new position he will supervise the personnel and education departments. DaveChalmers will be leaving the sunny south for awhile to participate in the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School. A leading light in Houston business and society, the "Bay" will have to forego those pleasures for thirteen weeks to settle down to the books. Good luck, Dave — a session like that takes courage.

Recent news clippings herald the efforts of Steve Weekes and Dan Ruggles. Steve is a Republican representative from Barnstable, Mass., responsible for a large constituency in the central Cape area. Dan is a state senator representing Washington, Vt., and is very well respected in his home state.

That's about it for this month's news so please keep those reports rolling in.

Not many plans made yet but you should have advance warning that '46 is planning a gala celebration on the Princeton weekend here in Hanover this fall. Chairman JackWhitman will be getting word out to you in the near future and I am sure that RalphSmith will urge you on in his inimitable manner. Incidentally, I hope you all have been reading his newsletters — they are gems. Keep up the good work, Ralph.

Best regards from the hills.
