"The '27 dnnr in NY in Aprl ws a big smshroo - sin 35-40 showd (c list in SPEAK) 2 hear our own Sykes Hrdy frm Chi. Sykes let sm of his hair dwn, on how Ryerson sells steel, whch is probly why Marsh McGough came in frm Wshngtn Pa, ditto Bill Crane. Since the steel fllrs r so tough on 'mtgs' mebbe that's why Howie Mullins stayd awy. Sykes lookd biggr thn evr, tho he said he's shrunk dwn 2 6-3½; mebbe we'v all shrnk more thn ½" — so the gap's biggr! Sykes also told how he got in2 the steel biz - jst srt of driftd in2 it, via Harry Heneage, then athltc drctr &came out of steel. So he put Sykes in; fair swap. So lookt wht hoppnd. Sykes stayd wth the co. &all they could do ws keep uppng hm; nobdy would tlk bk at hm. Now they cannt up hm any more. He's thr.

Coggy Broer called up the Saturday after Class Dinner when I was bringing the boat home and had a long talk with Marion trying to explain why he missed the dinner.
Ted Swanson had to miss the dinner because of illness; hope he's well recovered long since. Red Cleaveland complained that our scheduling the dinner conflicted with his spring trip to Florida but will see us Fall Reunion.
You will be glad to know Art Lyman is back at work part time after his coronary experience last fall. He again can't say enough for the efforts of Win Rodormer whom he hadn't seen for 36 years and Win's wife, Mary, also Bill Morton '28.
Paul Pierson at New York Dinner re- ported on a vacation in Florida. While on his way to Key West checked in on Al Chabot at Vero Beach and Gilly Gilbert at Sarasota.
Guy Bostwick said that after his 18-year-old daughter asked for her birth certificate for the third time he finally tumbled. With proper parental blessings, Susan married Robert C. Thomson, leaving Oswego State College where they were both freshmen, for Johnson City, N. Y., where they now live.
Marsh McGough, who came from Pittsburgh for the dinner, said he checked on Si Morand while in Chicago recently. Found him busy and in good shape.
Ken Murray lost a little of his enthusiasm for the Caribbean when after a charter sailing venture, he stepped off a curb down there and, of all things, severed his Achilles tendon. After a session on crutches and then cane, he is getting around and will be o.k. Jack Greener, to complete the winter vacation installment report, was in Nassau for a little beaching and sunning and looked real healthy.
Lee Greenebaum came by to say hello to everyone - couldn't stay for the dinner but wanted to see Sykes. Lee incidentally is quite himself again after an application of Florida sun. Slim Ensinger was another who came by but left early, matched by FritzKortlucke who arrived late. Guess he failed to warn potential parents, as he did before leaving for the Barbados a year or two ago, to properly schedule things since he was going to be away at that time.
Eavesdropping in the bar afterwards JackThees explained how he seconded DintyGardner to victory in the boxing match with that other '27er, Harry Wallace. The first round they slammed each other all over the ring, nobody got hurt but the round ended with two very tired boxers. Jack told Dinty to just hang on during the second round, not to swing a punch and to rest. Gardner listened, rode, result, third round Gardner now rested, Wallace now really tired, Gardner won. Harry, if this is not the full story, supply the facts, man.
Jack Draper a real busy surgeon looking forward to six weeks of cruising starting August 1. '27 rendezvous for sailors, Great Salt Pond, August 6, 7, 8, already scheduled, Jack's "Mary D," Gardner's "Borogove," Bury's "Caribou."
Van Wie Ingham, co-ordinator of Rutgers University's Bi-Centennial, says big hassle going on; someone has maligned the poetic prowess of the late Joyce (Trees) Kilmer, Rutgers' famous son, and ail Jersey is lumping.

The New York Times of April 25 carried a picture of Judge Dudley B. Bonsai, Federal Judge of the Southern District of New York in connection with a story concerning his assignment to the Roy Cohen retrial. His friends will agree with the following description contained in the article — "He is softspoken and inclined to be genteel in approach."
