MAY 1968 ROGER M. BURY, SAMUEL Z. WORMSER

A call from Bill St. Amant Monday night, March 25, told me of Lee Greenebaum's death. Got the word around to a number of classmates. Bill subsequently wrote, "Yesterday I attended the service at Temple Israel. Quite an experience. I didn't see any other '27ers but they could have been there. (SamWormser gave me the '27ers who are listed in the obituary.) Tremendous attendance in spite of only a few hours' notice. From what I saw, and heard, he will be greatly missed by many, many people, associations, and organizations." Thanks Bill, and '27 will miss Lee - a great and friendly guy to all of us.

Don McCall sends me the cards from those who, since they seem to be wandering all over the world, won't join us at DudBonsai's dinner on April 17.

Charlie and Barbara Bartlett won't be at Dud's dinner, account of sailing in the Bahamas - Charlie Paddock will be in Bermuda - Bill Browning (Dr.) says duties as Chief of Staff at Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington will keep him away. Cam Clokey took off on the "Cristoforo Colombo" for the Mediterranean, working his way slowly through all of Europe, gets back around Christmas - what a way to ease into retirement. Gene Sullivan says, "Saw a very contented Art Kelleher in Dunedin, Fla. Jack Shaw spent the day with us at Fort Lauderdale but headed back to the cold country this week." Charlie (Gibbie) Gibson just back from Texas, California, and Hawaii. (Doesn't any '27er have to stay home and tend store anymore? Ed.) Guess not, Jim Picken, unfortunately broke his hip and is just home from Williamsburg, Va., hospital. Good luck, Jim. Ken Murdoch spent the winter in California. Russ Weston has settled in Madeira Beach, Fla., recently. Frank Polachek reports from California, says while in Vegas at the Tropicana this winter, heard a Howard Mullin being paged - wonders whether it was Howie? BonesCummings, an old Zete retired in Milan, Tenn., sends Congrats to Dud. Bob Bliss says, "Wow, remember you, Dud, were elected the one to be remembered. Congrats and many more of like kind." Herb Howe, "about me - little, still working for 'Rocky' in the suburbs." Phil Hunt regrets with "business and golf keep me localized in Pasadena."

Lowell Wormley "back on the job following a post reunion coronary in July" - trust it's a permanent cure, Lowell. Nick Carter, "congratulations to Dud, who has had the career some of us dreamed of having when we graduated 40 years Will be in Arizona until May 1."

Red Elliott to Don, "Another good choice of '27ers to honor - you're keeping up the quality." Charley Huntley is keeping house while daughter Charlotte and her mother are in Madras, India, then on to Ceylon and the Himalayas. Better grab that slip horn, Charley, and catch up with them to keep the mountain goats away, or is it the "abominable snow-man?" Fred Page greets '27 from down under - "M/S Kungsholm" and a South Seas cruise. Ed and Dorothy Jacob had dinner in Sarasota, Fla., with Gilly Gilbert and Jean. The Jacobses are working their way back to Maine and hope to be in New York with us.

Fritz Kortlucke - "just got my license to practice in Connecticut. Won't hang out my shingle at once when I do it will be either Washington or New Milford."

A news note and a free ad from the Burys. You may remember a reference that in '66 we sailed from Honolulu to Seattle on the 50-foot motor-sailer "Passagemaker." Well, we have just made that plunge and have bought it, all of which means in addition to insolvency that "Caribou" will be up and down the East Coast with a new owner at the helm - when we locate him. Next issue, all about the Dud Bonsai, New York dinner.

Bob Page - "Madeline and I are visiting Nassau. It is a great relief to get out of an overcoat into shorts. I am looking forward to receiving the new '27 classbook." Not any more than I, Bob. If the printer doesn't get it to me next week (April 5) guess I'll have to skip!
