On Sunday evening, April 19, 1964, the Dartmouth Club of Houston held its annual meeting at the Hotel America. Jim Lain '42 and his lovely wife acted as host and hostess. Some 45 alumni, wives, students, parents, and friends attended. Refreshments were served at 6:30 and a most delightful dinner at 7:45 P.M.

After the dinner with Lain '42 presiding, Roger Stanwood '39 gave a report on enrollment activities for the previous year. He stated that of the 20 boys in the area who had made completed applications, five were accepted and two were placed on the wait list. He also stated that during the afternoon he and Mike McGean '49 had met with some 35 high school juniors in his home. McGean gave to these boys a most informative talk about the college, its academic program and the competitive situation facing high school graduates in the selection of a college of their choice.

The highlight of the evening was a talk by Mike McGean '49 who was visiting from Hanover and who is Associate Secretary of the college. Mike's talk was "Dartmouth Today" and it was most inspiring, informative and entertaining.

We had as guests of the club: Steve Hinds, Thomas Thompson, Joe Hemphill, and Daniel Hedges, together with their parents. These boys have been accepted by the college for admission to- the class of '68. Daniel Hedges is the son of our own DaveHedges '34. Among those present with their wives were: Russ Benjamin '54, Fred Bradley '57, Dwight Edson '18, Jim Fenner '58, Chuck Gillan '35, Dave Hedges '34, Larry Miter '28, Tom Morse '58, George Murphy '41, Blair Rainey '36, Henry Safford '40, Larry Starlight '50, and William Tell '56. Wendell Phillips '28 and Jack Weingarten '51 came stag. A most enjoyable evening was had by all.
