Our 58th annual meeting was attended by 65 alumni who spent a most enjoyable evening at our Club headquarters, The Poor Richard Club on March 24, 1965. Our feature speaker of the evening was Mike McGean '49 who spoke about the tremendous growth, both physically and academically at Dartmouth concerning the College, professors, and students. Mike then went on to devote considerable time to the Alumni College and its potential for the future based upon the first year experience.
At the business meeting that preceded the dinner, the following parties were elected and appointed to office: Tom Malcolm '54 (president), Russell Bilkes '51 (vice president), David J. Steinberg '55 (secretary). Muss McAlpine '59 (treasurer); two-year terms as executive committee member-at-large, Bob Clothier '58 and the new member of the executive committee, AL Dodd'35. (Bus Latimer '35 and Burt Proom '49 have one year to go on their terms.) JohnB. Nason 3rd '59 was appointed as our Scholarship Fund Chairman and we are hoping that John will light a tremendous fire under all of us in Philadelphia so that we might increase the Scholarship Fund. Pete Stern '63 was appointed as assistant Newsletter Editor to help out Dick Lippman '42.
John Nason '59 described the efforts of the Scholarship Fund and announced that a contribution of $1,000.00 will be sent to Hanover representing profits from activities from 1964 and contributions to date for 1965.
A special award of a silver Dartmouth martini pitcher was made to Dr. John Wolf '27M for the outstanding work which he has performed for the College and the Club and for his achievements as National Enrollment Committeeman in our area. John's term will expire in June 1965. Dr. Wolf stated that he will go on being active in Dartmouth as well as our Club affairs for a long time to come, and all of us certainly hope that his successors will continue with the good examples that he has set. The Class of 1928 won the Champagne Prize with the most members present.
Art Judson '52 is continuing his successful reign as manager of our team in the local Softball League. Please contact him at home CH 7-7811 or at his office PE 5-1000 for more details.
Our next major event, which will probably be in the past by the time you read this, is our informal dance to be held on May 21. Mark your calendar for Sunday, June 27 for our annual picnic at the farm of Hugh Kenworthy Jr. '41, Coatesville, Pa., which is open to all dues-paying members.
