News has piled up over the summer. Before sharing it with you, let's talk Alumni Fund once more and join in a loud "Well done!" for Bud French whose overrun of objective took us above the $50,000 mark for the first time.

October events include the Harvard tailgate party on October 22. Ed Butterworth has made special parking arrangements at Gate 14. Get in touch with him at 16 Fuller Avenue, Swampscott, for particulars and a gate pass. There is also the Yale hospitality tent adjacent to Portal 10 at the Bowl on October 29 with Charlie Rauch in charge. Then on December 1, we plan to have an Executive Committee and Class meeting and dinner in New York City at the Dartmouth Club. More on this affair when AlMcGrath and Ave Gould report their plans.

In the business world. We have learned that Lin Savage in May was elected president of the board of trustees of The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts. Lin is vice president of New England Merchants National Bank in Boston. Jack Coppock has been named executive vice president of New Hingham (Mass.) Lincoln Trust Bank. HalBooma has been appointed vice president tor U. S. and Canadian operations for United Shoe Machinery Company. Lenschmitz is chairman of Acme Visible Records of Crozet, Va. Bob Kerr, who sold Kerr Manufacturing Company a couple of years ago, is moving from Detroit to Rochester, N. Y., to take over the duties of group vice president for the purchaser, Ritter Pfaudler Corporation. Hugh Johnson has purchased a seat on the New York Stock Exchange but still found time to play in the Memorial Tournament of the Country Club of Buffalo with Al Marsters and win flight honors. Tony Colucci is senior supervisor in the Education Services Department of General Dynamics Quincy Shipyard. Phil Dakin writes from Naples, Italy, that he dreams "of coming back for a reunion one of these years. The problem is that our tourist season coincides with the June dates. Do give my best to any of our classmates who may remember me." Milt McInnes was granted his request to be relieved of his duties as vice president of Erie Lackawanna but has agreed to continue on a consulting basis. It was no news but pleasing to hear that "Milt McInnes is a man of very high character, loyal to the company and his associates, and upright and honest in his dealings with all men." Hank Bishop has retired recently and reports that he spent last winter in the Southwest. Garven Daglish is advertising manager for Hill-Rom Company (hospital equipment) of Batesville, Ind., but will be living in Cincinnati. Oldest son Tom is assistant attorney general in the state of Washington, three younger sons still in school, and daughter Meredith graduated from Goddard and now in Europe. GeorgeMosher, president of Sabin-Robbins Paper Company in Cincinnati, reports that son Fred is running their Louisville office.

In public service. Ed Brazil of Laconia has been appointed chairman of the Lakes Region General Hospital building fund campaign. Son Ed is a research assistant at the Thayer School of Engineering. Stamford Probate Judge John P. Keating has announced he will seek the Republican nomination for re-election in November. Jack has been a leader in many civic projects in his city. Bob McClory will seek re-election to the Congress where he has served as representative from the Illinois Twelfth District since 1962. Hi Savage has been chosen executive director of the Greater Bennington Association. He recently retired after 36½ years with Ralston-Purina. With 15 grandchildren, he should be pretty close to tops in the class. Always a Vermonter, he was quoted as saying "We've been happier here than we could have been anywhere else." George Parkhurst has been named by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore as an auditor of the equity courts. Bob Man- who has been in Buenos Aires with the Department of State saw good possibility of home leave sometime in August and with Leila hoped to reune with Bud French and other classmates in the New York area.

In education. Jim Taylor will become dean of the School of Business at Western Reserve University this fall. Our sympathy is extended to Jim in the loss of his wife last year. "Dr. Horn, Well-Hooded Man" was the headline announcing that Fran had received a Doctor of Education degree from Western New England College, his 14th since 1955. Fran and Billie were in the midst of a tour of the Balkans in August when he was called home to confer a degree on President Johnson. Undaunted, Fran returned the same day to complete his vacation tour.

The bells are ringing. Shelly Stark and Mrs. Jacqualene Chester were married in June in Pacific Palisades, Calif. He reports that he is heading up a local community theatre and may visit Spain for at least six months. Cliff Williams was married in May to Marcella Johnsen in Watertown, N. Y. This information from Frank Wallace of Beaumont, Texas, who hopes to come East next year for a visit. Barbara Michel was married to Alan Roberts McFarland in Southampton on August 6. David G. Barker and Helen Diane Sklar were married in Kansas City, Mo., in June. Susan Schneebeli is engaged to Dorrance R. Belin. She is a graduate of Wheaton College. The McFarlands announce the engagement of their daughter Caroline to Dr. Robert C. Seidler.

Bill and Lillian Lucas have been living in Vero Beach, Fla., for a year. "I am semiretired, meaning I do not loaf all of the time, but just most of it. Actually I own and operate an apartment house and expect to increase my operations in this field. Our son Eddie is now an officer candidate at Fort Knox." Bill expects to be on deck for our 40th.

Fred Scribner is continuing his work on setting up a regional class organization, sometimes with discouraging results as he gets refusals on these very important assignments or loses an appointee because of a move to another region. In a future column we expect to report the latest information on this project.

Winners of flight honors at the 48thannual Memorial Day Tournament, Country Club of Buffalo, were 1930 classmatesAl Marsters and Hugh Johnson.

A memory test for '29ers. (See the class notes for what was happening.)
