On September 11, the Club sponsored the annual picnic for alumni, wives, undergraduates, freshmen, girl friends, etc. Plagued by unusual inclement weather that managed to keep the skies dark and moist, for the majority of the day, the affair was limited to a small but hardy and convivial band of the loyal friends of Dartmouth (about 35) who, having ventured to the mountain country of North Bend, situs of the affair, and having braved the elements of our social tropical climate, arrived on the scene with an inordinate thirst. But your administration, showing "Proven Leadership," had anticipated all eventualities and thus was quite complacent as the Dairy Queen cuppers went through one quarter keg of Miller's and two cases of beverages besides. Barbeques were provided and were utilized not only for cooking meals but bodily warmth. Special thanks should be accorded HartleyPaul '59, who had not forgotten his college mastering of keg tapping.

Such events are not only good for our area alumni but productive to the club. Three new enrollment workers volunteered to join Ray Thompson's ('61) aggressive group to dispense information to our local high school seniors, and more counselors who might read this column are welcome. Ray's number: ME 2-1594.

Under Ray's leadership, the Christmas luncheon for prospective freshmen, undergraduates, and alumni will become a "second annual" event, due to the large number of favorable comments that were heard by the interviewing committee.
