DECEMBER 1966 PHILIP K. MURDOCK, RUSSELL J. RICE, JAMES L. LAFFERTY

With Thanksgiving safely survived (we hope) and football now a memory of mingled reactions, it is well to "record a reasonably happy dinner-gathering of '15ers after the Harvard game in Cambridge, where the why's and wherefore's of said game were thoroughly discussed by the assembled experts with due decorum. Those participating in the festive occasion included - the Dale Barkers, the Eben Cloughs, the String Downings, the Phil Murdocks, the Russ Rices, the Geo. Simpsons, and the Dick Wymans. No fumbles were recorded!

In these long-haired days of Go-Go, it becomes necessary to forget our former writing habits and cram into scant space news items without benefit of paragraphing, so - here goes. Howie Stearns reports that Howie Jr. was appointed Minister to the ministers in the Brockton Council of Churches, as well as Executive Secretary. Howie has acquired a new granddaughter, making it five. They expect to head for Florida along in February. Dan Daniell is busier than a paper hanger, battening down hatches, raking leaves (before the wind blows 'em away), transplanting, and other chores - says he hardly knows what day of the week it is (winter must come early out in Wisconsin)! Dave Markham, visiting his twin brother out in Kansas, "slept in Alf Landon's bed" in the old homestead originally owned by the Landons, not far from the largest gas well ever discovered, producing 300 million cubic feet, and says they now "drill" wheat fields at 25 acres per day by tractor as against 2½ acres 60 years ago! Sid Bull says "Birthdays are like Mountain Brew, you don't feel 'em 'til you've had more than a few!" Geo. Ingalls (my twin) was tripping some fabulous icy country in the new Canyon Lands National Park in Utah, so didn't get news of the Princeton game until his return. Bob Griffin reports a hectically busy summer - couldn't even make the Harvard game. Doc Noyes says he's back on "life-savers" and gaining weight. Hal Claflin is back in trim "still getting up steam" and whistling at "all the curves!" Jack Johnson says he's in fairly good shape "for his age."

Al Cleveland says he passed his drivers' license OK on his 75th and then went out and mowed the lawn - to celebrate, I presume! We extend best wishes to Jack andMadelaine Bowler's daughter, Janet, on her pre-announced November wedding to James Morey Fitzgibbons. Tom Connelly says he's feeling better and was glad to see StringDowning who dropped in for a visit - "same old String," says Tom.

Eben Clough reports there were 26 '15ers, including wives, at the Mass. football game in Hanover back in September. Eben says that when they build up the seating capacity of the Hanover stadium to 25 G's we'll be able to see Balch Hill again over the top of Leverone Field House! Phil Alexander writes "Same old 6's and 7's out this way (Denver) - had my 75th birthday this week." Don Bennink not too ecstatic at the seats he got for either the Princeton or Harvard games. The Phil Murdocks were nonetheless appreciative* for the lift Don and Fanny gave us out to the Stadium to the Harvard game after the Kike n' Pearl Brunch. That Charles River route is slightly confusing to an out-of-towner!

Jim (Bud) Braekett writes "Nothing new except my handicap has been increased from 17 to 19 — guess we are getting older — 2 strokes a year!" Ralph Brown — "Was in Hanover for the Princeton game — a beautiful day all around." Leo Burt — "Not much new — had a foliage tour — always a high point in the fall." Chink Chamber-lain — "Left for New Jersey mid-October and maybe a bit farther south for a week or ten days." Hugh Courtright — "No ex- citing development to report — one more year, a few more white hairs, but still tick- ing — Praise the Lord!" Doc Daisy — "Poor old Princeton!" Hal Davison — "Just finished a golf game with Wy Fuller — he and Augie were here for dinner, were up for Princeton game as guests of Mrs. Fred Child. Have played a lot of golf this year — that, plus a few hours at the bank nearly every day is my life. Hope to get down to Florida (Sar- asota) again this winter."

And here's one to conjure with — PopDennen writes: "Got a new wife last April - No fun living alone!" Doug Douglas "String around and sort of doing OK for a Country Boy - Looking forward to Florida in November for a few months. I eat my "Wheaties' every day but have not got to 'Geritol' Period yet." Geo. Ehinger - "Am in good health and still working." Bob Fredericks - "Hard to keep in touch with classmates after a lapse of years. I do hear from John Healy occasionally and don't know if Warren Montsie is back in Florida. It must be beautiful in Hanover with the fall foliage - 'A voice crying' etc." Joe Harris - "Rooting for Reunion next year in Boston - Doris and I will see you all then, God willing my best to all."

John Healy - "Was seriously ill in August, but getting along good - busy as ever now, spending mornings at my office at the hospital." Opie Horton - "I'm in good health and spirits. As I do not expect to go to reunions or football games for a while, I'm glad to kick in for a few widow subscriptions." (How's that for Class Spirit!) Chuck Ingram - "Nothing new - can't expect much at my age - regards to all." Walt Kennedy - "The years are piling up." Ev Lamson - "We were in Hanover recently surprised to see the Inn torn down, look for a good new hotel if they go up in the air - still thrill at Dartmouth Row, the old senior fence and campus as seen from College Hall where I roomed with Ev Graves freshman year."

Duze Lounsberry - "Putting our Newtonville house on the market - planning to move to a garden apartment - clearing out house we have lived in for 35 years while there are two of us." Mac McCarthy - "Sat through HC game with Richardson and Bigelow - you missed a soaking - enjoyed P-game lots more. Still going strong on project in Mississippi." Sammy Sanborn - "Retired officially last December, but still come to office daily and keeping fairly busy. Had a month's sojourn in White Mountains in July. Next on agenda is to look over Florida in near future." Buster Sawyer - "Leave for Florida soon - Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Xmas." El Sharp - "Leaving shortly for visit to brother in New Jersey and several nephews and nieces. The only thing of note is that I chopped 19 strokes off my golf score in one day - only trouble is it came down from 118 to 97."

Art Sheldon - "Fine game (Princeton) big bonfire, seventy RR ties high, Princeton tiger on top, started at 7 P.M. and still going at 11 P.M." Sim Simoneau - "Plenty exercise through frequent swims in ocean which usually end in December. Hurricanes by-passed us but roughed up surf at our beach to make swimming exciting - only one visit from sharks - any sharks up your way?" Ben Slade - "Wife has had serious operation." (We hope all's OK by now.) Bags Wanamaker - "Leaving early October from Kennedy Pan Am to Dakar, Sengal, and 69 days to 12 countries of South Africa, winding up in Cairo about December 11 - Hate to miss the ball games."

With which we wind up with this question (asked at the post-game dinner in Cambridge) - "Which Classmate was a ballet dancer in college?" HAPPY NEW YEAR!
