New England! As the cost of petrol continued to escalate, John McNamara, senior financial analyst with the Northeast Solar Energy Center in Cambridge, Mass., presented "Solar Energy ... an Overview" as the third discussion in a series on solar energy sponsored by the Cohasset, Mass., Republican Town Committee. This past November, Paul Rizzi was named vice president in charge of commercial lending at Indian Head Bank of Derry, N.H. Paul has been with the bank for six years and is active with the United Way of Laconia and is a member of the advisory board of the Laconia Salvation Army. Steve Hinds of Montpelier, Vt., has been a part-time community coordinator for the city's Youth Advocacy Project. Steve's full time work is as a field trainer for the Head Start State Training Center and he has been a music teacher, first and second grade teacher, and an instructor with the Community College of Vermont. For those who think the problems confronted by youth are only in large cities, Steve is a living example of the impact one person can make on youth in less-populated areas. Allan Meyers, assistant professor of socio-medical sciences at Boston University School of Medicine, was the featured speaker at two lectures at Central Maine Medical Center at Lewiston. The first was on social gerontology, the study of the aging process, focusing on the social and economic pressures and problems facing the elderly; the second was on patterns of health care utilization, particularly addressing the needs of the elderly and underpriviliged populations. Tom Couser ran the Dartmouth Marathon last fall in 3:38 and "lived to tell about it." In Marblehead, Mass., NoelAugustyn is preparing to leave the salty, rockbound coast for the thrills of running the Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, office of Burt and Taylor, a firm specializing in international law, with primary business in the Middle East. He expects to be there about a year and is somewhat concerned over affairs in that part of the world, having had previous involvement with Iranian-related business.

Other Places! Rick Kimball has joined the faculty of Muhlenberg, Pa., College in the Psychology Department. Dirk and Jane Ehlert and their two boys live in Seattle, where Dirk is practicing law; they entertained Sandy Dunlap, wfife, and baby boy, visiting from Boston. Dirk says the movie Animal House did not accurately depict our undergraduate lives due to one key missing element - the Polka Dot Diner! As a fellow admirer of the "Dot's" cuisine and atmosphere, I would have to agree with Dirk. Lee Friedman is an associate professor in the Graduate School of Public Policy at U.C. Berkeley. Lee expressed an interest in his learning about incrementalism, where values are kept deliberately vague in order to achieve political consensus. Get your resumes ready, because Line Eldredge joined the Dallas office of Heidrick and Struggles, management consultants in executive search, as an associate this past October. The family, including wife Susan, two daughters, and a son, is living happily in Dallas, where Line occasionally sees Rick Lannen, who works for a law firm in the same building. Charles Adams is still practicing international law and splits his time between Paris and Washington, D.C. Nedand Mimsy Cummings are wrapping up a fouryear teaching assignment at the USAF Academy in Colorado and are looking forward to a move in the direction of Washington, D.C., this summer. Ned was teaching English at the academy. Both are anxious to hear from friends in the D.C. area for obvious reasons. You may reach them at 1304 North Tejon, Colorado Springs, Colo. 80903.

Finally, I regret to notify you of the death of classmate Steve Debnam, killed in a helicopter crash while working in a lumber operation in Honduras. I can safely say, as a former fraternity brother and friend, that no young man from California ever found a better fit in Hanover than Steve. He left his mark and he will be missed. A more complete tribute to Steve will appear in an upcoming issue.
