Most of us are still caught up in the seasonal change of routine which accompanies the commencement of a new school year. Houses are quieter, bank accounts are leaner, the postman calls more often. The classroom involves the parent and the student led by our class members in the teaching profession. In Northfield, Vt., Dr. Russell B. Capelle was recently promoted to Professor of Government at Norwich University. Russ has been Associate Professor since 1957. He earned his M.A. at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts and his Ph.D. from Boston University. He is author of "The MRP and French Foreign Policy" which scrutinizes the French foreign ministry in the ten years following World War 11. His son, Russell Ir., graduated from Dartmouth in '65 and has spent the past two years as a Navy officer. This will be the senior year for the Capelles' daughter, Joan, at the University of Vermont. In Exeter, N. H., Jim Clark is Director of the Reading Center for the Exeter Junior and Senior High Schools. As reading consultant for the school district, Jim must be knee deep in remedial programs at the beginning of this new year. In Hull, Mass., Joe Herman is whipping his students into shape at Hull High School. Joe has white linen knickers — will travel — as a football official, of course. He is a former president of the New England Football Officials Association. His son, Harold, is attending the University of Massachusetts.

In Hanover three '36 sons are in the freshman class this fall. Jon Conkling, son of Jim and Donna Conkling of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Ramon Marks, son of Mattand Simone Marks of Falls Church, Va., and Jonathan Osgood, son of Stan and DorisOsgood of Winchester, Mass. In Washington this spring Matt Marks was designated as deputy to the assistant Secretary of the Treasury having responsibility for supervision of the Bureau of Customs and Engraving and Printing — no requests for samples, please. Jon Conkling has had extensive TV and stage experience as a member of the King Family.— his mother is Donna King. Bill and Alice Bruckner are also residing in Sherman Oaks. Although Bill primarily writes for TV, he is presently hard at work on his first novel. They have one son, Kenyon, who has received his B.A. from U.C.L.A.

The summer was not without activity at the altar rail. In Keene, N. H., Rosamond Putnam, daughter of Dave and RosamondPutnam, was married to Francois Delori of Ghent, Belgium. Rosamond is a Wellesley graduate and her husband is studying for his doctorate in physics at the Imperial College of Science and Engineering in London. In Trumbull, Conn., Elizabeth Foster, daughter of Bill and Claire Foster, was married to Richard Montgomery. Elizabeth is a registered nurse on the pediatric staff of Bridgeport Hospital. Richard, a graduate of Ohio University, was about to enter the service. On June 10 in Manchester, Mass., Dick Treadway and Mrs. Suzanne C. Herter of Cambridge were married. Christian Herter 3rd gave his mother in marriage and Jonathan Treadway was his father's best man. After many years as a widower Bob Slake of Glenview, Ill., was remarried on March 31 to Olive Mansur.

The vacation months have also seen some changes in job status. Don Robbins of Fairfield, Conn., vice president since 1955 of the Singer Company was named to the new post of treasurer and chief financial officer of that organization. Don found time during the summer to sail on Long Island Sound. At the Atlantic Class national championships held at Cedar Point Yacht Club of Westport Don finished sixth in his boat, "Maia." Dr. Jim Dingwall of New Brunswick, N. J., has joined the Quinton Company, consumer products division of Merck & Co. Inc., as director of environmental health. Jim was formerly medical director of the Squibb Institute for Medical Research. Dr. Tino Lando has been appointed consulting psychiatrist to the staff of the Family and Children's Service of Troy, N. Y. Tino is clinical instructor in psychiatry at Albany Medical College and a full time practicing psychiatrist in Schenectady. Massachusetts Representative Chet Young and his wife, Evelin, recently opened the Scituate office of Colpitts Travel Center, New England's largest a nd oldest travel agency organization. Bill Reed, president of Jordan Marsh Company of Boston, has been elected to the corporate vice-presidency of Allied Stores Corporation which operates 114 department stores coast to coast. Larry Marx, vice president of United Merchants and Manufacturers, Inc., has added to his many extracurricular activities membership on the Board of Trustees of Hood College, Frederick, Md. The Hartford National Bank and Trust Company in Connecticut has appointed Bob Murphy to the bank's West Hartford Advisory Board. Bob is executive vice president and treasurer of the Wiremold Company.

After several years of globe trotting and residence in the Canary Islands, Bob andRuth Ireland have purchased a home in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. However, it is difficult for them to remain settled for too long and they are already planning a trip to start next February which will take them to Angola, South Africa, and Mozambique via Scandinavia and Lisbon.

If you are planning to be in New England for some Big Green rooting this fall, there will be two opportunities to join a '36 gettogether. The Holy Cross game will be in Hanover on October 7. Phil and Leslie McInnis have offered their back yard for tailgate picnicking. Their house is on Dana Road, just east of the hockey rink. The same arrangements as last year have been made for an executive committee meeting and class buffet supper at the Tobacco Valley Inn, Windsor, Conn., to follow the Yale game on Nov. 4. Time - 5:30 P.M. Geneand Kate Tamburi as hotelkeepers of this fine establishment will be our hosts. Gene has been named the new president of the Connecticut Hotel-Motel Association. We have another innkeeper in our ranks. Chuckand Lois Aaron have left Cleveland for the land they love. They have purchased Dexter's Lodge at Sunapee, N. H., which will be open year 'round. Chuck will now be able to ski to his heart's content. He will also have to be a good bartender.

The Class Directory is in the works and we hope it will be in the mail to you shortly. Don't let that stop you from dropping me a line.
