Bob and Ann Zartler invite all sixty-sixes venturing into ski country this winter to stop by their Wilder, Vt., house (equipped with extra beds, we understand). The first thing they'll show you is James Fredric, an "absolutely adorable" guy born on August 26. Doug Hill was a frequent visitor in Wilder until the first snowfall, when Doug set off for sun-drenched Hawaii and Peace Corps training for assignment to Micronesia. JeffWinograd, a first-year student at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York, stowed his gear with the Zartlers in early December.

Over Christmas Bill Gruber and DonRies joined Bob and Ed Kern '67 on a skitouring trip through the Pemigewasset. A snow storm forced them back to civilization after a few days, but in true Big Green fashion they returned cold, wet, and happy. Bill is now back at St. Louis University Medical School and Don reported to Lowry Air Force Base on January 23.

Larry Herbst switched roommates last September. Instead of sharing a Philadelphia apartment with Norm Shaffer, a firstyear student at Penn's Wharton School of Business Administration, Larry chose Cynthia Sherilyn Buck (Colby Junior), married her on September 10, and brought her to Philly while he works for his doctorate in economic history at the University of Pennsylvania.

Ensign George Vincent spent the summer on an all-expense-paid tour of the fashionable South Atlantic on the "USS Allagash," a fleet oiler. Returning to the States after his 17,000-mile cruise George popped the question to Andrea Sautelle (Colby Junior '65, St. Lawrence University '67). A summer wedding is scheduled. George met LarrySimms, stationed aboard the "USS Essex," and reports that he too enjoys the salt air.

February 11 will be the big day for Lt. Ned Northrup and Christine Mueller, a graduate of the University of Colorado, who has studied at the University of Vienna. The couple will be married in Hartford.

In late November David Chamberlain, enrolled at New York University Law School, and Ruth Godson, a student at the University of Connecticut, were engaged.

Gerry LaMontagne and Susan Wanat became engaged before Christmas. Sue will graduate from Central Connecticut State College in June with a B.S. in English education, while Gerry is a member of the Class of '68 at Tuck.

Army Second Lieutenant Bob Bach has recently completed an eight-week signal officer basic course at the Army Southeastern Signal School, Fort Gordon, Georgia. Bob who was commissioned through Dartmouth's ROTC program, received instruction in the duties and responsibilities of a signal officer and was trained in communication procedures, use and maintenance of signal equipment, and administration. During Bob's basic course, wife Janet kept the home fires burning in Rowayton, Conn.

Ensign Mark Blanchard made his first solo flight in a T-34 Mentor Trainer at Pensacola Naval Station a few weeks ago. Mark, and the half-dozen other NROTC '66's in the pilot program, will earn their wings in thirteen months.

Where were you over Christmas? Bill Todd, studying at Oxford University on a Reynolds, went to Morocco "to swim in the ocean, prowl through medieval casbahs and pick oranges off the trees." Bill writes of his new experience: "it's very pleasant to be in a city of over 100,000, in a co-educational institution, and only an hour away from London after four years in the North woods."

Dave Stout spent the holidays at Many Farms, Ariz. Following VISTA training at Arizona State University Dave went to work for the Office of Navajo Economic Opportunity, still hustling for the Indians.

Larry Forcier is studying at the Yale University Forestry School.... Bill Garry is at the Stanford School of Drawing JimTent is an instructor at the Big Horn School in Buffalo, Wyo.... Eric Waples is a teacher at the Loomis School.... Charles Wadell is a National Bank Examiner for the U.S. Treasury in Denver.

On some cold winter night, sit down and write us a note. The exercise can't hurt and we love to get mail.
