The most revealing figures on this all-male campus this winter came out of Dean Thaddeus Seymour's office: there were only 69 "cases" of disciplinary action (for academic reasons) recorded for all four classes this past Fall Term, as compared with 95 last fall and 208 only seven falls ago. There were no separations from College, only six suspensions, 28 probations, and 35 warnings in the 69 cases.
Theories abound on the why of this decline in academic problems: brighter students, better prepared students, better counseling, more serious motivation toward graduate studies, higher grading by faculty, the threat of the draft and service in Vietnam, or a combination of some or all. But whatever the reason, the student body's accomplishments this fall are applauded by all.
