By the time of your receipt of this issue Frank Gilroy's new play, "That Summer, That Fall," is scheduled to open in New York, following a try-out in Chicago. The new work, as reported by The New York Times, is a modern interpretation of the Hippolytus legend. Like Frank's earlier play, "The Subject Was Roses," it is being produced by Edgar Lansbury and directed by Ulu Grosbard.
Frank was the featured speaker at the joint convention of the American Educational Theatre Association and the Speech Association of America in Chicago recently, and kept the attention of an audience of 2000 for nearly a two-hour question and answer period.
Another writer in our ranks is Prof. David Brion Davis. His book, "The Idea of Slavery," a 505-page first volume on the problem of slavery in western culture, published by Cornell, recently was reviewed at length in The New York Review. Volume one carries the story from antiquity to the 1770's. Dave is a resident of Ithaca, living at 104 North Sunset Drive in that New York community.
The American Bar Association has honored Time and Look magazines with "Gavel Awards" for "distinguished service" in communicating to the public "the basic values of our legal and judicial systems." Time was cited for its Law section, which is written by Robert B. Shnayerson and edited by Richard Seamon, plus a special citation for an essay, "The Revolution in Criminal Justice."
The Rey. Canon James G. Birney is the new president of the Delaware State Council of Churches. Jim's newest extracurricular activity falls right in line with what he's already doing in the line of duty, for as program development director for the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware he has been involved in inter-church activities for nearly five years. He has been involved in ecumenical work, including the Delmarva Ecumenical Council, and the metropolitan ministry department of the local council of churches. 105 Blue Rock Rd., Wilmington, is home for Jim, Biz and their five children.
Joe Hendrich communicates from Cleveland that he still is leading a bachelor's life and is keeping very busy as distributor for The Commonwealth Group of Mutual Funds. 1238 Union Commerce Building, Cleveland is Joe's office address, while 5731 S.O.M. Center Road is his BOQ.
David J. Taylor sent a business card along with his dues to our caretaker of the coffers, Treasurer Rick Miller, indicating a lofty address for his investment counseling activities on the west coast. 220 Montgomery Street, Penthouse, San Francisco is the spot, while 2576 Vallejo Street in the same city is Dave's residence.
Another card came from John J. Wolf, who is associated with Robert Garrett & Sons, Inc., an investment banking house in Baltimore. John's home is 1217 Robin Hood Circle, Towson, Md.
Hal Fitkin has taken his talents west, ana reports the new address of 800 South Broadway Street, Denver, Colo. 80209. Another move of many miles is reported for Atlee Wise Jr., an account executive for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, who's now reporting in from N86 W15667 Shore Crest Drive, Menomonee Falls, Wis. 53051. So brush up on your navigation and check that one out for latitude and longitude - though getting a fix on the position may be a bit difficult until the midwest's recent record snow cover recedes a bit.

Reviewing the latest annual "Who's Who" of Alumni Association and Club presidents and secretaries, Harrison C. Bristoll Jr. has been head of the Dartmouth Club of Central Connecticut (New Britain) and Dr. Stuart A. Kay was in command of the New Canaan, Conn., group. In Des Moines, Miles M. Mills Jr. was secretary of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of lowa, and Bob Burrill held the same post in the Cape Cod club. Tom Sours headed the Dartmouth Club of Central Ohio (Columbus), and Bernard McPhillips Jr. was in the top spot of the Oregon Association in Portland. Other scribes included Hal Fitkin of the Dartmouth Club of Toledo and Don Brown of the Eastern Oklahoma club (Tulsa). Nate Royall masterminded the Dartmouth Club of Dallas, while Bob McConaughy wrote the reports of the Utah club.
