Whitey Burnham's varsity lacrosse team won't really get down to league play business until May, but the April schedule was providing both valuable experience and rugged competition.
Brown, a tough team with several AllAmerican players on its roster, came to town and had to work furiously to defeat Dartmouth 7-6. This came right after the Indians had won a 6-3 victory over Holy Cross and at a time when several key Dartmouth players were sick. The result spelled optimism among Big Green lacrosse rooters, mixed with uncertainty when it came to predicting how the season might finally turn out.
Bob Dobbin '67 of Owing Mills, Md., scored three goals against Brown, working in tandem with John Eisold '68 of Baltimore, Md., on two of the three. Eisold also scored one unassisted.
There are numerous others showing promise on the squad, which numbered 40 men during the first Leverone workouts, but only as the season unfolds will the main lineup take shape.
