Dartmouth, with three weeks less practice than its opponents, lost 28-81 to Cornell on January 14 in the first varsity indoor track meet of the season.
Harris Wagenseil '67, team captain and newly named Rhodes Scholar, broke the meet pole-vault record with a jump of 14 feet 6 inches. He had the crowd in Cornell's Barton Hall holding its breath as he came within a whisker of clearing 15-feet, one-inch, a height never cleared in either New England or the Ivy League.
